This month's remote Software Developer + Support jobs

Howdy! We are [WP Buffs](https://wpbuffs.com/). Our team provides 24/7 WordPress website management that powers digital growth. That means maintenance services for serious website owners and white-label site management for agencies and freelancers.\n\nWhat's most important is our mission: **to create unforgettable experiences that positively impact every community we connect with.**\n\nIf this inspires you to want to join a team that's obsessed with pursuing this every day, please read on.\n\n**Required experience:**\n\nThis job is for accomplished WordPress developers. You don't need to be a senior developer with 20 years of experience, but you do need to know more than just how to make basic changes from the WordPress dashboard.\n\nAdvanced languages like JavaScript, React, etc is all good, although not required. Rest assured, we'll fully test and vet your skills during the interview process.\n\nWhat's most important is we need WordPress developers who can tackle technical challenges and work alongside the rest of the technical team to overcome them.\n\n* PHP\n* HTML\n* CSS\n* Page builders (Elementor, Beaver Builder, Divi, etc)\n* WordPress theme editing & development\n* Fluent in written English\n* Ability to work alongside fellow developers to accomplish individual, and more importantly, team goals.\n\n**Preferred experience**\n\n* JavaScript\n* Git\n* ManageWP\n* BlogVault\n* WordPress plugin development\n* Bilingual communication is a plus!\n\nIf you're confident in your WordPress development skills and can hold your own, you'll fit well into our already talented team!\n\n**Requirements**\n\nIt's not just technical support skills you need to be a Buff. It's the right attitude with which you come to work with every day.\n\n* Practice radical transparency\n* Make decisions and own them\n* Take customer-focused action\n* Deliver exceptional results on-time\n* Double check all work for completeness and correctness\n* Lead by example\n* Always have the backs of other Buffs\n* Work full days during your shift\n\nIf you're confident you can live and breath these values, you'll be a good fit for our team!\n\n**Benefits**\n\nAfter 2 months of employment, contractors/part time employees who log at least 20 hrs/week are eligible for :\n\n* Book reimbursement budget\n* Equipment & technology reimbursement budget\n* Professional development reimbursement budget\n* Co-working reimbursement budget\n* $100 healthcare stipend\n* Flexible & Remote work\n* The travel budget (if logging 35+ hours/week)\n* Gym reimbursement (if logging 35+ hours/week)\n\n**Compensation:**\n\nSalary for this position is completely dependent on your experience, location, technical skills, how well you can help us tackle the outcomes for this position and the competencies you can display as a member of this team. This is something we're happy to discuss once you've gotten further along in the application process.\n\nWP Buffs is a revenue-funded business, meaning we have to be selective with our spending. We cannot afford exorbitant salaries like massive, funded companies can. If you're looking for a big payday or a salary commensurate with a $100M+ company, you probably shouldn't apply because you'll be disappointed with our offer from a financial perspective. But if working remotely, joining a fantastic team, working on fun, challenging WordPress problems and coming to a place where your rate of learning will increase exponentially gets your blood pumping, we'd love you to apply.\n\n**Equal opportunity employer:**\n\nAt WP Buffs, we don’t just accept difference — we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our employees, our products, and our community. WP Buffs is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.\n\nWe do not discriminate based upon race, religion, color, national origin, gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, status as a protected veteran, status as an individual with a disability, or any other status protected under federal, state, or local law.\n\nAll aspects of employment including the decision to hire, promote, discipline, or discharge, will be based on merit, competence, performance, and business needs.\n\nWhile this all sounds good, WP Buffs is run by humans. Sometimes biases are unconscious and hidden. Diversity programs and training might not work as expected. And good intentions are often inadequate. That's why we're always working to improve in this area and welcome an open dialogue. Email us anytime at [email protected] to help us be a better equal opportunity employer.\n\n**Getting your application noticed:**\n\nWe receive 100s of applications for each position here at WP Buffs. Help yours stand out from the crowd with some advice from Kyle, Joe and Christie: [How to effectively get hired in the WordPress space](https://wpmrr.com/podcast/kyle-maurer-sandhills-development-2/)\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

***Contractor role, initially 3-6 months with possibility of becoming a full-time position.***\n\n***This is a remote position. The successful candidate will be expected to work during U.S. working hours.***\n\nThis is a dangerous time to be a journalist on the internet. Online comments are often filled with insults and threats, while being present on social media can lead to horrific abuse. It doesn’t have to be this way.\n\nAt Mozilla, we believe that healthy online conversation can exist, given the right systems and tools – and we believe that a healthy democracy depends on it. We’re looking for an Integration & Infrastructure Engineer to join our team to help bring our main product, Talk, into more newsrooms.\n\nWe built our open source Talk tool to improve online discussion. It now helps journalists at more than 25 news organizations to engage with their communities, share knowledge, empower discussions, and reduce the impact of trolls. And it doesn’t share or sell anyone’s data while doing it.\n\nCurrent Talk users include The Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, The Intercept, New York Magazine, the National Review, and the Sydney Morning Herald.\n\nIf you’re passionate about helping newsrooms to adopt better technology for their communities, and have relevant skills and experience, please consider applying even if your background doesn’t match our ideal credentials. We are committed to diversity and especially encourage members of underrepresented communities to apply.\n\nWe are a small, diverse, and dedicated team that works remotely. We want you to help us make the internet a better place for everyone.\n\n## Responsibilities\n* Work directly with publishers and their development teams as the primary contact as they install and run Talk, either on-premise or using our hosted/SaaS solution\n* Work closely with our engineering team as an intermediary between publishers and the rest of the team, preparing and replicating bug reports and feature requests\n* Develop and document nuanced accounts of the varying goals, processes, and technical landscapes at various journalistic organizations\n* Solve problems, including building and/or guiding technical integrations for newsroom systems, while ensuring best practices for security and reliability\n* Take the lead in managing, triaging and diagnosing customer support issues\n* Share technology and product decisions with editorial and technical users\n* Maintain positive relationships with newsroom developers as they install and integrate Talk\n* Provide product, service, technical, and engineering support for Talk, especially for our current and future SaaS clients\n* Contribute to and improve product documentation\n* Maintain and improve existing cloud infrastructure\n* Sit in on software architecture meetings to provide feedback to the development team\n* Solve problems and address infrastructure issues, automate tasks, maintain and improve build/deploy processes\n\n## Skills\n**What you have:**\n* A real passion for mission-driven work\n* A problem-solving mindset and a knack for troubleshooting\n* An understanding of how software systems work together to meet business goals\n* Experience in implementing software solutions across a wide variety of technical platforms\n* Experience with Docker\n* Infrastructure/devops/systems administration/DBA experience\n* General programming skills (our stack is Node, Typescript, React, Mongo, GraphQL)\n* Strong social skills\n* Strong documentation skills\n* At least 4 years’ relevant experience\n\n**What you might also have (but it’s fine if you don’t):**\n* Experience with launching SaaS products\n* Experience working with news organizations\n* Experience contributing to open source software\n* Experience with Google Cloud and/or AWS \n\n# Requirements\nTo apply for this role, please send an email to [email protected] Please introduce yourself, and tell us why you are passionate about this role. Also please attach your resume, and any other relevant info (portfolio, website, GitHub profile, etc).
