  • SQL, PostgreSQL, Java, RabbitMQ,
  • Zookeeper, ElasticSearch, and Docker.

About Brave

The web has become a different place. With the adtech ecosystem out of control, users have
revolted and blocking ads has become the new weapon of choice for improving their browsing
speed, safety and privacy. Unfortunately, blocking alone results in a race to the bottom where
nobody wins. Without the ability for content creators to earn money for their efforts, users could
be left with fewer sites to browse, relegated to handpicked content from controlled sources.
Brave aims to transform the online ad ecosystem with micropayments and a new
revenuesharing solution to give users and publishers a better deal, where fast, safe browsing is
the path to a better future for the open web.

The Challenge

Brave is looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Lead who can grow and refine our SQA
process across both mobile and desktop platforms. Strong communication skills will be key in
orchestrating testers from various sources as well as communicating with endusers to triage
bugs and assist in STR. This is a highprofile and impactful, handson position in an early stage
startup.

Requirements

  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of white and black box testing methods
  • Proficient in manual and exploratory testing of native mobile applications on both iOS
    and Android platforms
  • Proficient in testing of native desktop applications on macOS, Windows and Linux
  • Solid grasp of how to test effectively within an agile development process
  • Strong ability to work well with engineering, product, design and marketing teams to
validate requirements and collect user feedback
  • Experience with software development via distributed development teams
  • Comfortable working in an open source setting
  • A passion for helping protect users’ privacy and security
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proven record of getting things done

    Responsibilities

  • Bug management: triage, organize, reproduce, improve STR, determine scope,
    communicate with reporters
  • Release management: testing of release candidates, ensuring quality is sufficient for
release, monitor releases for crash reports
  • Coordinate testing with our Beta test groups
  • Ownership of bug reporting tools and methods, including advisement and setup or
    migration when needed

    Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • 4 weeks (20 days) of paid vacation per year
  • Excellent medical coverage
  • Generous 401k plan
  • Stock option grant
  • Travel and conference budgets
  • Commuters benefit (Onsite only)
  • Hip office in the SoMA neighborhood of SF

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada.

At Brave, we are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color,
ancestry, religion, sex, age, marital status, disability, national origin, sexual orientation, gender,
gender identity or expression, or veteran status. We are proud to be an equal opportunity
workplace, and value a team that is as diverse as our target user base – the entire world.

    About CareMessage:

CareMessage is a high-growth startup using our mobile SaaS platform to improve the health and wellness of millions of underserved patients.

When you think about big opportunities in healthcare IT, few people will argue that chronic disease prevention and management are ripe for disruption and a massive opportunity. The number of affected lives is mind-numbingly large, and the dollars are too. This is particularly true for patients that are low income and underserved. In fact, being low income is a significant predictor of low health literacy and poor self-management skills, with patients below the poverty level constituting 43% of the health illiterate and a majority of the poorly managed. With the implementation of the state and federal exchanges and an influx of individuals through the expansion of Medicaid into the health care ecosystem, payers and providers are struggling to serve this increase in low to modest income population with limited resources. This necessitates innovative approaches to facilitate health care delivery and promote self-management in light of increasing demand for healthcare services.

In order to succeed in solving this massive problem, you have to be highly innovative, highly available, and uniquely tailored to the key use cases of the complex healthcare industry. It takes years of intense focus, strong financial backing, and a great product in order to deliver a winning solution. We believe CareMessage (www.caremessage.org) has done all of these things and is positioned to be a breakout company in this exciting category.

CareMessage is a unique, fast growth (1,000%+ CAGR) SaaS not-for-profit health technology company dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes for underserved patient populations in the United States (and some day, globally). CareMessage’s technology acts as a bridge between the patient/caregiver and the healthcare organization, typically a hospital, clinic or health plan. For the healthcare organization, CareMessage’s cloud-based dashboard enables staff members to automate various kinds of interventions for individual and groups of patients. The patient/caregiver receives targeted alerts, reminders and notifications through text and voice messaging.

Over the last year, the Company has been tripled in size, quadrupled its total customer base and achieved significant revenue growth (including partnering with some of the largest health systems and health plans in the country). This is exciting times at CareMessage as we embark on the journey to make a huge impact with unprecedented growth.

The Company employs ~30 people and is based in San Francisco, CA.

We're looking for a QA developer who loves ensuring system integrity and banishing system issues. You're passionate about QA, automated testing, system exploration, continuous integration, and automating all the things.

This isn't a traditional QA or testing position; you won't be limited to building & executing automated tests.

You will love this job if you are always learning about a system holistically and improving it atomically. You get a rush from identifying system issues, making improvements, and writing automated tests to ensure the quality you focus on. You're equal parts QA engineer, software developer and user experience tester.

You will be an integral part of our software development team. We don't believe in tossing testing over-the wall or rigid separation of QA. As part of our agile team you'll be working with our feature developers in parallel and helping to guide the team to areas where we should focus system development.

Your responsibilities will be software development with an emphasis on QA and testing including:

  • Automated testing: using a suite of tools to check the codebase for correctness & compliance
  • Thoughtful, manual testing: explore, experiment, question, study & probe the system
  • User testing: a powerful way to test whether our solution matches our customers' needs
  • Triaging: identify the source of discovered or reported system issues
  • Development: fix system issues where you can
  • Deployment: integrate testing & build quality into our continuous integration process

    Your attributes & orientation:

  • Curiosity & intelligence: full stop.
  • Customer-orientation: You have a deep appreciation of our customers' needs & motivations and an understanding of how our system may or may not meet their needs.
  • Communication: A very important part of testing & QA is communicating about what you find tactfully & effectively with the rest of the org, from other developers to founders of the company.
  • Pragmatism: You understand how software can break and use considered judgement about where to apply testing and what extent of testing is sufficient.
  • Thoroughness: From setting up environments and VMs, to writing & executing test plans, you're thorough with an unusual attention to detail.
  • Excellence: You have a high bar for quality software and you're prepared to hold us to those standards - with a smile :-)
  • Laziness: In the Larry Wall sense: you love to automate your team and yourself out of repetitive tasks.
  • Skepticism: Be critical about everything from the initial feature definitions & requirements, to the finished code (as well as your own conclusions :-)

    Your skills & experience:

  • Development: You have several years doing professional software development, in fact even not if in title.
  • Automated testing: You're familiar with the full range of automated testing from unit to integration to regression to UI. You understand what class of problems are best addressed through which type of tests. We'll look to you to make recommendations about specific tools.
  • Tech stack: You're comfortable with our stack & common tools: Ruby, React, postgres, heroku, github
  • Team player: You've been a part of highly-functional agile teams, not religious but “just enough process”

    Your setup:

  • We're a distributed team by design. To be able to be a full contributor, you'll need:
    • Stable access to broadband, low-latency Internet; should be good for videoconferencing - we regularly use Hangouts, Skype and Screenhero
    • A dedicated, quiet place to work (although we totally recognize the goodness of varying your work setting & location)
    • A workday that overlaps w/ West Coast afternoons (20:00 - 02:00 GMT)

      About us:

Power Supply is an ecommerce marketplace that gets great food (read: delicious + nutritious) into the hands of people who eat with purpose. We do that by working with local chefs to produce fantastic meals with well-sourced ingredients, and we deliver them close to customers straight to their homes, or to the gyms and offices they frequent. Customers don’t need to worry about food during the week because they know we’ve got them covered with incredibly tasty noms.

      Our Environment:

  • We’re a mission-driven bunch - motivated to both make great eating crazy simple, delicious and life-changing, as well as the whole stew of related goodness: food, fitness, people, passion, relationships, change, health, daring, and mirthWe’re all remote.
  • Although HQ is outside of Washington DC, and we have folks on the ground for each city, the company's been designed to be remote from the start. We live on Slack, Google hangouts, Skype, FaceTime, Battle.net…
  • Our tech team is a modest 3 folks—Kevin, Paul, and Leonardo—but we pack a huge punch. Paul (in SF) works through product design + user experience; Leonardo (in Buenos Aires) meticulously crafts our front-end + presentation layers; Kevin (in Seattle) directs the backend + system architecture. You’d work closely with all of us.
  • We’re not your typical isolated tech team: we’re heavily intertwined with other parts of the business, from local operations to customer service.
  • We follow a structured iterative design + development process (you could say it’s Agile.) We love our weekly prep chats on Mondays, quick daily stand-ups, keeping track of things on Trello and GitHub, and reflecting on the week each Friday.
  • We try to have active fun consistent with the work that we do including occasional “recess” activities when we get together in-person as a team: stand-up paddle-boarding, waterfall climbing, sand volleyball, bike rides, sailing, and tree-top ropes courses. Ask Kevin about the “surfing” trip in LA.
  • We’re all about creating a culture of individuals that hold themselves to a very high standard and and get great satisfaction from doing excellent work
  • We offer competitive compensation & benefits including health, dental & vision insurance and 401k.

We believe at our core that the most important thing for anyone is to do challenging work that you’re naturally drawn to with a team you dig in order to make a meaningful difference in the world.

### Where We're At

We're a startup that recently closed pre-series funding. We're young, but our
product and processes are surprisingly mature.

The product consists of an ionic app (AngularJS, ECMAScript 6), ruby API (Grape,
No Rails, ActiveRecord, Sidekiq, Stripe, Sendgrid) and postgres db (postgis)
on AWS (Capistrano for deployments).

The process consists of Github for pull requests and code reviews, Jira for
issue tracking and task/feature management, circleci for continuous integration,
codeclimate & rubocop for static code analysis, rspec & karma/protractor for
unit/e2e testing.

We're very early and this means we shift focus at a breakneck pace. Despite this,
however, we will not sacrifice best practices nor carry unreasonable expectations.

### Can You Work With All of This and More?

Then we want you.

We're looking for someone ready to take this product by the

We're a startup that recently closed pre-series funding. We're young, but our product and processes are surprisingly mature.

The product consists of an ionic app (AngularJS, ECMAScript 6), ruby API (Grape, No Rails, ActiveRecord, Sidekiq, Stripe, Sendgrid) and postgres db (postgis) on AWS (Capistrano for deployments).

The process consists of Github for pull requests and code reviews, Jira for issue tracking and task/feature management, circleci for continuous integration, codeclimate & rubocop for static code analysis, rspec & karma/protractor for unit/e2e testing.

We're very early and this means we shift focus at a breakneck pace. Despite this, however, we will not sacrifice best practices nor carry unreasonable expectations.

### Can You Work With All of This and More?

Then we want you.

We're looking for someone ready to take this product by the horns and drive it where it needs to go. We've got big launch dates coming and the start of the next season looms. If you're a generalist with experience ranging from the top of the stack to the bottom, send a message telling us why we'd be stupid to pass up an opportunity to turn you loose in ours. (also include your availability & rate, please)

Do you like developing software exactly to a spec? Do you hate being creative? If the answer to either of these is yes, please don’t bother applying for this job.

We’re looking for creative, intelligent, and passionate developers who can design as well as code. We look to our team to help design the interface and functionality of the product and to understand what problems our product is trying to solve and how we can help our customers.

TeamSupport is a rapidly growing provider of customer support (or “helpdesk”) applications. We are looking for a talented web developer that can bolster our quality assurance and help fuel our growth. This developer's primary role will be to fix software bugs and maintain the bug back log while contributing to in-depth QA testing to assure stable releases. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience with web (ideally SaaS) development and be skilled in Javascript, jQuery, Web Services, CSS/HTML, SQL, C#, and GUI design. This is a full time (not contract) position. The successful candidate must possess the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.

Based in Dallas, TX, TeamSupport is primarily a virtual company and most employees work from their home offices. The successful candidate for this position will be able to work in this type of environment and thrive in the fast paced culture of a rapidly growing technology company.

The person we’re looking for will be technically savvy and a self-starter, someone who has an enthusiastic, positive attitude, excellent written and verbal communication skills, has strong attention to detail and above all, a dedicated work ethic. This individual must have a passion for customer satisfaction, be highly organized, have great energy and a drive to help build a successful product. Candidates must be able to work independently, designing and testing applications. This position will work closely with both the development and quality assurance teams.

Our hiring process incorporates video interviews. Candidates that are selected for further review will be required to submit video interview responses.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience with web (ideally SaaS) development
  • Skilled in Javascript, jQuery, Web Services, CSS/HTML, SQL, C#, and GUI design
  • Experience testing applications, ideally with the use of Selenium
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher, preferably in Information Technology, Business, or Software and a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience, preferably in the SaaS space
  • Very strong written skills and verbal skills. Most of our client interactions are text based and excellent writing skills are critical to the customer experience.
  • Flexible, self-motivated/self-starter with a pro-active, knowledge seeking attitude
  • Able to work well independently and take direction
  • Strong attention to detail, strong organization skills
  • Task oriented, able to focus and perform in a work-from-home environment
  • Must be able to work effectively on one’s own with minimal supervision.
  • A passion for delivering a well designed, tested, superior product

    Location:

The ideal candidate will be in Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX, but preference will also be given to candidates in other areas of Texas. Our company reimburses employees for all reasonable costs associated with travel to the Dallas office. We estimate 4-5 trips to the Dallas office per year. Although we give preference to candidates in the DFW and TX area, we have many employees in other states as well. We will evaluate candidates outside of Texas on a case by case basis. All our employees work remotely from a home office on a daily basis.

    Compensation:

    55-80k salary depending on experience.

If you are a quick learner, passionate about customer support and ready to be part of a successful team, apply today!

For nearly a decade, Big Cartel has been a company built by and for artists. And like the artists we work for, we are independent. We are self-funded. We are selling a handmade product. We are doing it the hard way. And we love it.

We’re looking for an up-and-coming Ruby developer to join our small but mighty team. You should have some solid experience already, but you’re hungry to take your skills to the next level with some real work that will be seen and used by thousands of people every day.

As a junior member of our awesome engineering team, you’ll have your hands in a variety of small projects and tasks, like:

  • Documenting, prioritizing, and fixing bugs
  • Assisting our Support team with technical issues
  • Deploying marketing projects for our Community team
  • Helping QA our releases to ensure they’re ready to ship
  • Building and maintaining internal tools to help us work better

    You must have:

  • Ruby on Rails experience
  • Functional experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Git and GitHub experience

    Bonus points for having:

  • QA experience
  • Server experience
  • Experience with Middleman or other static site generators

More than anything we need someone who wants to help artists make a living doing what they love. Big Cartel is home to over 500,000 designers, musicians, makers, and other artists. Your work will be a critical part of keeping them happy and productive.

This is a full-time and salaried position that includes all of our awesome benefits like paid family leave, solid insurance, 401(k), and a generous PTO policy (we encourage you to take 4 weeks off!). You can work remotely from anywhere in the United States, but extra credit for joining us in SLC.

We also feel it’s important to point out the obvious here – there’s a serious lack of diversity in our industry and it really bugs us. That’s why we’re doing everything our small company can do to change that. We hope to continue to build a company whose culture promotes acceptance and embraces how rewarding it is to work for artists of all types all over the world.

While we definitely want your sharp skills, we’re specifically looking for a great teammate who values creativity, respect, and an honest desire to support artists over an impeccable resumé. If you’re hesitating to apply for any reason, don’t. We’re excited to hear from you.

Rainforest

DevOps Engineer

Rainforest

2yr

Apply

We're looking for an exceptional DevOps engineer to join as the next member of Rainforest. We're still a very small team, but people usually think we're much bigger given the scale at which we operate.

One of the more technically complex parts of our infrastructure is managing a large stack of virtual machines. Every single test run through Rainforest is done through a newly minted VM. This means that we boot thousands of machines every single day. Given our current growth, we expect this to grow exponentially.

Here's what we hope to get out of you: You're not afraid of writing code, our stack is Ruby, so you'll have to either know it or be ready to learn it. You need to have prior experience with a provisioning tool (Puppet, Chef, etc). You understand systems and networks thoroughly. You know things we don't about distributed systems.

We're working on super hard problems that make developers' lives easier. We are a group of friends that love what we're working on, and believe that we're going to change the world for people building software.

Why become a Rainforester?

Meaty problems

We're working on serious problems that haven't yet been solved. You're the kind of person who isn't turned on by the idea of spending your time working on trivial problems.

You'll have a big impact

We're a small, flat team that punches above our weight. You believe in solving problems with code, not headcount, and you want to own large areas of the product and have your voice count for something.

Culture of Open Source

Rainforest is dedicated to Open Source. If you work on OSS for fun, you'll fit right in at Rainforest. We're the maintainers of several projects and we don't shy away form open sourcing the bits that make sense.

Great work environment

We work out of Heavybit, which is a space dedicated to making dev tools companies successful. You want to work in a beautiful environment, surrounded by smart people. Heavybit runs a weekly speaker series, as well as regular office hours with people smarter than us.

Competitive salary - real ownership

We offer a sliding scale of pay and equity, and everyone on the team has taken more equity at the expense of short term salary. We don't believe in offering mere points to early team members. We give meaningful ownership in the business you spend your life on.

All the usual SF startup stuff, or work remotely!

Unlimited, paid time off. Catered lunch. Whatever hardware you need. We will pay for you to go to any conference you're invited to speak at. We will support you in creating meetups (use our space!), and generally help to enable your personal bad-assery in whatever way we can. Half our team is remote already, so if you prefer to live outside of SF, that's not a problem either.
