This month's remote Design + Product jobs

# ⭐ SUMMARY\nWe are Pixellu, a software company on a mission to simplify professional photographers’ lives. We are seeking a world-class Lead Product Designer to head our product design. You’ll be working directly with the VP of Product & CEO to develop a product vision and execute on that vision with the help of UX/UI, Product Owners/Managers, and Engineering.\n\nThis is not a “sit in the office and plan” role. This is a role where you will be with the exec team one day, and in the trenches the next. Expect to roll up your sleeves and be in the weeds, doing the work.\n\n# 🚀 ABOUT PIXELLU\nAt Pixellu, we know professional photographers are frustrated with all of the tedious work required to run a successful photography business. Many get so overwhelmed, they end up quitting on their dream of having a photography career. That is why we create easy-to-use, time-saving software that simplify photographers’ lives, so that they can spend less time in front of the computer and get back to doing what they love.\n\nPixellu was co-founded in 2010 by two wedding photographers. Faced with the challenges of long hours and endless tasks, we began asking ourselves, “How can we save valuable time, make more money, and get our lives back?” Our answer was technology. We started Pixellu with the idea that we could make money by providing an honest service that helped photographers save time and live more fulfilling lives. We believed that, by focusing on a great product and great service, we could build a business that not only does good, but also does well.\n\nToday, we are a team of 30 team members spread across 10 countries, serving tens of thousands of photographers in over 100 countries.\n\nLearn more about us and why you’ll love working at Pixellu here: https://vimeo.com/405889874 \n\n# 😎 YOUR ROLE\nPixellu currently has three products - SmartAlbums, SmartSlides, and Galleries. We are looking to not only improve existing products but also introduce new products that will further simplify our customers’ lives.\n\nThe primary role of the VP of Product is product strategy. You, as the Lead Product Designer, would be second-in-command and responsible for execution. Your job will be to:\nResearch: Conduct user research and testing. \nPlan: Help shape the product strategy and vision. Drive product roadmaps & set feature priorities.\nPrototype: Define the user experience, interactions, and user interface through user flows, information architecture, sketches and wireframes, and visual design. Build functional prototypes to validate and test your designs. \nDesign: Design simple, elegant, data-driven, user-centric experiences that delight users.\nLead: Lead our small team of UX/UI designers.\n\n# 📗 REQUIREMENTS\nAside from the standard job description, here is what we most value in a candidate:\nObsession with simplicity and intuitive design\nMastery and application of space, iconography, illustration, and UX laws\nThorough knowledge of the latest trends in UX\nPeople & communication skills\nData-driven decision making\n4+ years of experience in product design\n\n# 🏖️ BENEFITS\nWork from anywhere\nFlex time; aside from "required online hours" of 8-11am Pacific Time, work hours are fully flexible\nCompetitive salary based on experience level and your local cost of living considerations\nQuarterly profit-sharing bonuses based on seniority and role\nPaid parental leave\n20 annual days off, with the ability to make up missed days on weekends\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

Apply in January 2021. The starting state is Feb 1 or ASAP.\n\nAs a designer you’ll work on the web-interfaces of our core product, both for mobile and desktop. You’ll set direction, take ownership, make calls, and see things through without a lot of oversight.\n\nWe are looking for a ‘full stack’ designer; a designer who sees through the whole process from idea to visuals and the finished product. That means you’ll shape the design system, design the UI and deliver HTML/CSS and maybe even add a pinch of Javascript wherever you think it’s needed. This does not mean that you are all on your own; you’ll work alongside an experienced developer. \n\n### About exclusive.com\nExclusive.com is a well-funded startup aiming to give people access to exclusive content from creators — such as Artists, podcasters, athletes, influencers — through a monthly subscription. \n\nThe company is established in the Netherlands and operates completely remote. We have no office and intend to keep it that way.\n\n### Requirements\n* Great communicator, in perfect English, both written and verbally\n* Great visual design taste\n* Be able to write HTML and CSS (we use tailwind css)\n* Write great product copy; words matter as much as pixels\n* Highly productive, conscientious and a kind and fun person to work with.\n* Our ideal candidate is a manager of one. You set your own goals and deliver.\n* Entrepreneurial mindset\n* At least 3 hours overlap with CET\n* We’re looking for someone to commit for at least 6 months.\n\n### What we offer\n* €75.000 (approx USD 90.000) gross per year, regardless of location\n* Challenging project that might be used by millions of consumers worldwide\n* The freedom to get your work done whenever you want.\n* If we like to work with you: long term job security\n* Applicants from outside the Netherlands will be offered a contractor role. \n\n#Salary\n$90,000 — $90,000\n\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

## Krit is a growing digital agency that partners with Cyber Security startups to design and build innovative new products.\n\nWe typically work with 8-12 clients at any time on projects like:\n\n* Designing a web app to visualize the background noise of the internet and uncover the next wave of cyber attacks.\n* Creating software to help Fortune 500 companies visualize opportunities for attack within their networks and improve their security.\n* Building a dashboard used by security teams at city governments and utilities to detect abnormal web traffic.\n\nOur clients’ products have been used by brands like Dropbox, Lyft, Microsoft, Nike, Yale University, and more.\n\nLast year, we made $700,000 in revenue as a company and are on track to increase that this year. We’re a bootstrapped, transparent company and share our profits with our team. 🎉\n\n## We’re looking for a creative, user-focused designer\nWe’re looking for a Designer with an eye for detail and a passion for creating software that looks great and is easy to use. You should have experience producing wireframes and high-fidelity, interactive mockups. You should also be comfortable owning a project from start to finish and collaborating within a small team. Coding chops aren’t required for this role, but an interest in learning how to build your design in code is a plus.\n\n**Detail oriented**\nMost of your work will be creating production-ready, high-fidelity prototypes that will serve as the blueprint for our developers to implement. You should have a sharp eye for details in your design and pay attention to things like consistent typography, spacing and use of color.\n\n**User focused**\nYou will be working with clients to create products that solve real problems for their users. You should always be thinking about the people using the software you design and make thoughtful considerations for things like error messages, empty states, and edge cases.\n\n**Eye for aesthetics**\nWe create software that solves problems and looks great doing it (nobody wants to use ugly software!). You should be a creative visual designer with an understanding of how aesthetics impact user experience and perception.\n\n**Accepting of feedback**\nWe believe sharing and getting feedback on designs early and often produces the best work. You should seek out feedback on your ideas as a way to push your work to the best it can be.\n\n## What to expect at Krit\nYou’ll be working with clients and our two designers, Austin and Iris, to take ideas through a full design process that includes wireframes and high-fidelity, interactive prototypes. This will be a mix of new products and new features/redesigns for existing products. For new projects you will own the entire process from user interviews to high fidelity mockups. You will have an opportunity to learn from our talented team and to mentor more junior designers.\n\nThis role will be joining our lead designer and junior designer as the second addition to the design team. This means you’ll have a lot of room for growth and influence as we continue growing the design team.\n\n**Your responsibilities will include:**\n\n* Producing wireframes and high-fidelity, interactive prototypes for new products and features (we currently use Figma for designing and collaborating)\n* Conducting user interviews and analyzing analytics data to guide clients on design directions\n* Working with other Kritters to ideate and explore design directions for new products\n* Writing microcopy for your designs\n* Participating in design critiques with the Krit team and with clients\n* Working with developers to help them understand and implement your designs\n* Learning to code your designs in HTML and CSS\n\n**In this role, you won’t be responsible for:**\n* Branding and creative direction\n* Project management\n\nWe primarily use Figma for wireframing and prototyping, but we make sure to use the best tool for the job.\n\n**You’ll be a human, not a number**\nWhile we’re not perfect, we are super passionate about creating a great place to work. We’re striving to build a culture that’s respectful, kind, supportive, and challenging. You won’t just be a number here—you’ll have a measurable impact on the direction of the business.\n\n**You’ll be a part of an inclusive, transparent company**\nOne of our goals is to build a more diverse company. To us, this means diversity of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, and national origin. We strongly believe in building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels safe and invited. We are also a fully transparent company. We share our finances, salaries, pipeline, and more.\n\n\n## All roles at Krit come with:\n\n💸**Competitive salary + profit sharing**\n\nThis will be a salaried position paid $80,000 per year. All full-time team members also participate in our yearly profit-sharing program and receive yearly raises.\n\nOur salaries and raise process are completely transparent, you can see our Compensation Model here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JIRE_t0jrFt1jQ1Awxsbq95LNQ3rqjN0Wi3dQck9s0s/edit#gid=1738148510\n\nFor this position we are looking for a Level 2 Designer.\n\n👩‍⚕️**Benefits**\n\nWe offer competitive healthcare plans, as well as dental and vision insurance and access to a 401k.\n\n🏖**Vacation days**\n\nAll Krit employees get 15 vacation days as well as 10 company holidays. Sick days don’t count as vacation, if you’re sick don’t make it worse with work.\n\n🌎**Remote, United States**\n\nWhile we have a home base in Charleston, SC, most of our team is remote. For this role, we are only considering applicants who are eligible to work in the United States.\n\n🕰**Flexible hours**\n\nEveryone is different. As long as you can be available for team meetings and are able to communicate effectively with the team, work when you work best. We do expect you to average about 6 billable hours per day.\n\n💻**Equipment budget**\n\nEvery new employee gets $2,500 to spend on equipment, so you can pick whatever works best for you.\n\n☕️**Co-working/Coffee budget (Remote)**\n\nWe want you to have the space you need to do your best work. We’ll give you up to $200 per month to put towards a co-working space. Or if you prefer going to a coffee shop a few times a week then we’ll cover the coffee tab.\n\n👼**Paid family leave**\n\nWe offer a family leave plan of up to 4 weeks paid vacation and 4 weeks unpaid regardless of your gender. \n\n#Salary\n$80,000 — $80,000\n\n\n#Location\n🇺🇸 US-only

Hi future Likvido employee!\n\nAs the co-founder and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of a very fast-growing startup: I need you.\n\nWe’re looking for a remote “development manager” / "product manager". This is basically “The Right-Hand of the CTO”, as I need help with everything from speccing new tasks, testing tasks, answer questions from developers and even conceptualize new features.\n\nYOU DON’T HAVE TO BE ABLE TO CODE. However, It’s expected you’re the rare unicorn that is both technically very strong but also very good at communications, user experience and understands the business side of things.\n\nWhat are we doing:\nSince we launched Likvido in April 2018, we’ve absolutely nailed it. Not only do we now have 1.000+ customers - among many of the hottest startups and scaleups in Denmark - we also managed to get very serious funding, have very good unit economics and built a really cool technical platform. However, we’re just getting started.\n\nSo what are we doing?\nWe are solving the biggest reason for companies going bankrupt in Europe. You see, 19 % of all invoices are paid late, and roughly half of all bankruptcies are caused by lack of cash.\n\nLikvido is defining a new category we’re calling a “customer payment system”. Today you integrate Likvido with your accounting system, and then we automate sending out invoices, send our reminders, start debt collection and post back to the accounting system. Looking ahead, we will add financial products, give the whole organization access to our system and much more. In brief, we help companies get paid - on time - and forecast their cash flow.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n# Responsibilities\n Your job responsibilities will be:\n\n- To maintain a high product quality, through both lots of testing of new features & continuously improve everything we have live\n- Ensure great performance by metrics such as: errors in logs, fast page-load, check request amounts\n- Release management and making sure new code goes live (without problems)\n- Help our CTO specify new tasks to our development team, and verify specification makes sense on all new tasks\n- Help our development team with questions on features\n- Be responsible for our internal IT support email\n \nTo make it concrete, during an average day, you could expect to do some of the following:\n\n- Testing a new feature made by a developer, and giving structured feedback (in Github)\n- Checking website speed and amount of requests (in Azure)\n- Testing a new release is ready to be rolled into production and then pulling the “release trigger!” (in Azure Devops)\n- Reply to support tickets from our internal support department (in Intercom), and realize we have a bug, that you specify a solution for our development team (in Github)\n- Help developers with questions about tasks (in Slack)\n- Get a few hours to come up with some examples of how a new type of page could look (concept development) \n\n# Requirements\nWe’re very open to your background, but the following is important to have in mind:\n\n- Fluent in English\n- Some kind of formal education in business, economy, communication, IT or marketing is required\n- You’re very detail oriented and structured\n- You’re IT-savvy. You should be able to: 1) download development programs & run applications from your computer 2) be open to learn SQL / databases if you don’t know it 3) use many different systems\n- You have a Windows computer or are OK with installing Bootcamp and running Windows when you work. Parallels is not good enough\n\nA big part of the job is providing feedback to our developers by testing and speccing. It’s also extremely important that you’re able to quickly understand what we do, so you can help us improve the product. It’s a huge plus if you’ve worked with SaaS (software-as-a-service) before, or has worked in accounting systems.\n\nIt’s also worth noting that we’re a startup with big ambitions. This also come with big expectations. We don’t expect you to work crazy Silicon Valley hours, but you should also expect to work significantly more than 40 hours per work.\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

Hi, I’m Brian, Director of Product at Customer.io,\n \nI’d first like to introduce you to Fly, our current design system. We’ve reached a point where Fly is struggling to scale and hiring you is the piece of the puzzle we need to invest in leveling it up. I’m looking for someone to join our product team and be the vanguard of this effort!\n\nOur product work is done by squads: small groups of product managers, engineers, and designers like you, focused on solving a customer problem. In addition to wrangling our design system, you'll also be an integral part of a squad, helping to define and design the user experience.\n\nThe work you do here will raise the bar for the everyday communications we all receive. It drives us crazy when we get useless emails and notifications that feel like spam from companies we admire. Despite how poorly some companies communicate, we don’t think marketers are bad people. In fact, we believe they care about their customers, don’t want to waste their time, and simply don’t have the tools to do better. At Customer.io we’re on a mission to give our customers the superpower of sending and tracking great email, SMSes and push notifications. \n\nOur customers are marketers, growth hackers, and engineers who are always dreaming up fresh ideas for how to be genuine and personal in their messages to customers. We help businesses send relevant messages based on what people do or don’t do when using a web or mobile app. \n\nSound like the next step in your career? Read on and apply!\n\nP.S. Identify more as a UX Designer? UX Engineer? Don’t worry about it - let us know if you think this is the place for you.\n\n**What will you be doing?**\n\n- Taking over Fly, the component library we use to construct our app in close partnership with our front-end engineers and your fellow designers. Understand what works, what doesn’t, and take ownership of improving it.\n- Standardize and document these modular components, so the entire team knows how, where, and why to use them\n- Own UI and UX design for product features while partnering with engineering throughout the creation process\n- Use both data and customer research to validating your designs and refine concepts for new features\n- Separate trend from truth when it comes to design systems -- meaningfully leverage best practices, but don't be afraid to ignore the buzzwords and forge a path (and a Medium post) yourself!\n\n**You’ll be working with...**\n\n- Ivana, Sr UI/UX designer, to take features from concept to Customer.io! Together, you’ll collaborate on distilling user feedback into user goals, wireframes, visual designs, prototypes -- whatever the team needs to make our customers’ lives easier.\n- Kieran, Sr Product Designer, who will be your visual design partner as you corral our design system and take it to the next level.\n- Brian, our Director of Product, to figure out what we need to build next for our customers. With Brian you’ll focus a lot on customer problems and outcomes in order to cultivate an iterative design-driven team culture. Brian joined last year from Adobe, where he spent years building products for designers.\n- A team of front-end engineers with a passion for design and usability. They’ll be close partners: you’ll laugh together, you’ll cry together, you’ll do the best work of your lives together.\n\n**What will you bring to the table?**\n\n**You’re a natural systems thinker** and that’s exactly what makes you a great designer. Grids, modules, and typographic scale are your paintbrush. You see nonstandard, one-off interfaces as a rough design critique. You enjoy applying your systems in service of customer needs just as much as you enjoying crafting those systems.\n\n**Your north star** is making a design system and user experience harmonize perfectly. You realize it’s not just about a pattern library, it’s about constraining the ways the patterns can be assembled so they accelerate the both process of designing a product and empowering its user.\n\n**You’re hungry to learn**, and you love to understand how things work under the hood. You thrive in technical conversations with engineers where you need to balance constraints with design goals.\n\n**You’re scrappy and self-directed** when it comes to problem-solving and working on multiple projects at once. You’re looking to work with a startup where you’ll be responsible for the impact you make and have a lot of freedom. Working with folks in different time zones will be standard issue for you around here, so being able to stay determined, even when the answers aren’t in front of you, is essential. \n\n**You are a proactive communicator**. You strive to be articulate and empathetic in your interactions and believe in “working out loud” to share work early and helpfully. This might mean writing out your questions for the team, jumping on a quick call to clarify feature requirements, or building wireframes after documenting your assumptions.\n\n**Bonus!** Not a requirement, but shout about it if you have experience with... \n- Writing the HTML, CSS, and JS for the design system you create\n- Marketing Technology and/or SaaS Companies\n\n**Why should you work with Customer.io?**\n\nWork at our head office in Portland, OR or anywhere in the world you want. We want to enable you to do your best work, and this is how we aim to do that—\n\n**Competitive salary** - We’re offering $80,000-$100,000 USD for this position, with flexibility for location and experience.\n\n**Equity** - You'll own a piece of the company. It's not a get-rich-quick deal, but if you stay around for a while, we're planning to be a long-lasting company and your piece of it may be a nice bonus. \n\n**Big Impact** - Our team is small, but growing quickly. The work you do will materially impact how successful we are as a company. \n\n**Great Tools** - Everyone in the company has a budget for a computer, a motorized standing desk, Steelcase Leap office chair, external monitor, and anything else you'd like to get your job done.\n\n**Health Benefits** - We pay 100% of your premiums for medical, dental and vision. \n\n**Paid Parental & Medical Leave** - including adoption\n\n**Retreats** - We get our whole company together once a year. We've had retreats in Iceland, Barcelona, and Romania. \n\n**Vacation** - Rest and recuperation is important. We offer unlimited paid time off with a 2-week minimum per year.\n\n**Diversity statement**\n\nAt Customer.io, we’re committed to building a diverse environment, and encourage minority applicants. So far, we have team members in France, Germany, Canada, and all over the US. Our CEO and CTO grew up in Singapore and Arkansas respectively, but met in New York City. Our company culture is always evolving; people from different backgrounds bring valued perspective and thoughtfulness to the work that we do and the culture we foster.\n\nCustomer.io provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics. In addition to federal law requirements, Customer.io complies with applicable state and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment in every location in which the company has facilities. This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation and training. Basically, we follow the law, but also like you for who you are!\n\n**Come Join Us!**\n\nApply below, and make sure you tell us why you’re interested in the position! We’ve added a few questions that will also help us understand how you think. \n\n- Provide a resume or LinkedIn profile\n- Provide a portfolio or a few work samples\n- What’s the difference between an atom and a molecule?\n- When are you allowed to break the grid?\n- What do you think is the most interesting (or least interesting, red-herring) debate going in design today? \n- Creamy or crunchy peanut butter?\n

Play a major role in the visual design and experience of Baremetrics. We're looking for a designer who's comfortable with both UI and marketing design who's aware of and able to use design to help users comprehend complex business metrics. The core of this job is data visualization and helping businesses make sense of large amounts of data.\n\nThe analytics world is uptight, dry and boring. It lacks joy and personality. You're tasked with changing that. We want customers to use Baremetrics and smile. Design for marketing should tell a story and UI design should lead people towards making better business decisions. We want someone who fully understands and embraces that.\n\nYou'll be heading up the entire visual identity and experience of Baremetrics from marketing to UI to branding and everything in between.
