Divvy Homes is hiring a Remote Senior Full Stack Engineer

Why Divvy?\n\nOver the past decade, millions of Americans have been forced to put their dreams of homeownership on hold. Home prices have outpaced wage growth while mortgage requirements continue to tighten. As a result, renters are missing out on a critical wealth-building opportunity: owning a home.\n\nAt Divvy, we're building an on-ramp to homeownership – one that's more affordable, more flexible, and an overall better fit for the modern American family – and it’s working.\n\nAbout the role\nYou will be able to leverage your creativity and skill set to make homeownership more accessible and equitable. The engineering team builds tools to support our consumer, agent and administrative products. At Divvy, you’ll own some of your projects from start to finish, support your teammates on other projects, and work collectively to scale our platform to thousands of new applicants and multiple new markets. Almost every project will require cross functional collaboration across the entire home buying process. You will work alongside a team of 8 engineers, 2 product managers, 2 data scientists, and about 40 other Divvy employees working on different parts of the business.  \n\nEngineering Opportunities\nBuying thousands of homes a year requires effective and intelligent software. There are several different complex workflows that our software must support and each one presents us with its own unique set of nuances and challenges. Depending on your interests and career objectives, you will work towards solving challenges across three broad domains:\n\n1. Consumer experience - We want to make finding and buying your next home easier than renting. This involves building an intuitive application experience, nurturing the relationship between applicants and agents, recommending homes, and hand-holding the customer through the process.\n\n2. Data Intelligence - Given that we are a financial product, we need to ensure that we are selecting the right candidates into our program (those with a high likelihood of becoming homeowners), and pricing our offering as fairly and accurately as possible. You would work alongside our data-science team to productize models and leverage our datasets to reduce risk and build a more effective product.\n\n3. Scale - Our goal is to buy thousands of homes in the coming years. Buying a home involves considerable complexity, and we want to remove as much human touch from this as possible. We are building systems to automatically underwrite customers, generate competitive offers, thoroughly and thoughtfully inspect homes, support and service our tenants, and much more.\n\nCommitment to Diversity & Inclusion\n\nWe prioritize a commitment to diversity in our team building process. We enthusiastically encourage individuals from a variety of lived experiences to reach out.

We offer relocation for those interested. \n\n\n👩‍💻 What are some of the things we work on?\n\nThe frontend is written in React and React Native with the state managed by Redux. The backend code is mostly written in Python3 and runs using Flask (REST API) and Celery for all background work. The state is stored in PostgreSQL and RabbitMQ with Redis for ephemeral storage, and finally, everything runs on Kubernetes.\n\nGiven the above, we usually work on one of these levels by improving the existing code, or we create a new feature which more often than not has a component on both frontend, backend, and maybe a migration in the database.\n\nIn short, we do full-stack development. Either way, it always good to have a good understanding of the entire stack to be effective.\n\n🧙 Who are we at work?\n\nWe have a strong preference for people who worked with high-traffic web applications for the past 5+ years.  We're essentially running a distributed system that has lots of moving parts and having a decent amount of experience with this type of system helps a lot!\nAdditionally, our apps have over 20k daily active users with sessions longer than 6h+/day and serve tens of millions end consumers per year, so we put great importance on quality, testing, and code-review of all our code. \n\nIf this is the type of environment you're looking for, then you should consider applying.\n\n👩‍💻 About the Developer Relations Team\n\nThe mission of this young team (it just got created a few months ago) is to develop tools to enable 3rd party application developers to extend functionalities of the Gorgias help-desk with features from their own products. Some examples of applications built by 3rd party developers that are live today on our platform are:\n- enabling companies to send and receive messages on a new communication channel, like JustCall and Textline\n- displaying more customer data next to tickets, like Daasity.\n- proactively create tickets to anticipate customer issues, like LateShipment.\n\nCurrently, the team is working on creating an App Store to improve discoverability of apps developed by our partners. In parallel, we are building a Partners Portal, to enable those partners to manage their applications in a centralized way. After that, responsibilities will be to keep improving the partners portal and the App Store and develop features to enable 3rd party developers to create new cool functionalities within our platform.\n\n\n\n\nEngineering Team Culture\n\nGetting Stuff Done, Ownership, Team Work, Excellence, and Agility.\n\nYou should join us if you want to ship stuff fast without sacrificing quality. We've put great importance on testing our code, cleaning it, treating errors first, and features later.\n\nWe also value growth and ownership. People make mistakes. We learn from them to avoid them in the future. We cannot achieve excellence if there are no bumps in the road.\n\n\nWhy join us? \n\n🚀 We're among the fastest-growing startups in the eCommerce ecosystem\n🦄 We've built an extremely efficient go-to-market engine\n🥇 Work with a talented team you'll learn a lot from\n🙏 Join a company where automation, good & clean data are core beliefs shared by all\n\nMore cool things to know about Gorgias... 😁\n\n• Raised our Series A for $14M in November 2019: techcrunch.com/2019/11/26/gorgias-series-a\n• Raised our Series B for $25M in December 2020: https://techcrunch.com/2020/12/10/gorgias-series-b/\n• What our customers are saying: apps.shopify.com/helpdesk#reviews\n• Our software stack: stackshare.io/gorgias\n• Other positions: jobs.lever.co/gorgias\n\n\nGorgias ensures equal employment opportunity without discrimination or\nharassment based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy,\nchildbirth or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender\nidentity or expression, age, disability, national origin, marital or\ndomestic/civil partnership status, genetic information, citizenship status,\nveteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Lincoln Network is hiring a Remote Senior Product Design

We’re hiring Senior Product Designers as contractors.\n\nPart-time. Remote.\n\ntl;dr: We're looking for top product designers to do contracting with us: someone who can interview users, design thoughtful features, and produce beautiful high-fidelity mockups for our engineers to implement. If that's you, we're dying to talk to you.\n\nWho we are\nLincoln Network is a group of unapologetic capitalists who love technology.\n\nWe founded Lincoln six years ago because we were concerned. The heart of the technology world, Silicon Valley, has shifted away from the free market values that led to its prosperity and to improved lives for billions of people worldwide.\n\nWe’ve grown into an organization with three parts - a think tank, an agency, and a product studio. As a contracting designer, you’ll be helping with all three, but primarily with client-facing agency projects.\n\nDespite our need for top-tier design talent, things have been going really well. We have dramatically grown in size and influence over the past six years and have established ourselves as the preeminent organization in the overlap of the free market policy and tech worlds.\n \nRole overview\nMany companies have separate roles for UR (talk to users and understand their needs), UX (figures out how things should work), and UI (implements the design). We're looking for someone who can do all three. But if we had to pick only two, it would be UX and UI.\n\nAs a contracting Senior Product Designer, you'll work with our design, product, and engineering gurus on exciting new and established websites, plus responsive web/mobile apps. You won't be on your own. You'll have input from our resident illustrator/engineer Joey, our Head of Product Ian, the multiple clever Product Managers across the company, and our existing design team. We all want beautifully designed products and we know that takes collaboration and process.\n\nA key part of this role is getting familiar with our customers. You'll be talking to them constantly and using their feedback to guide your decisions. When we know what to build, you'll design UIs for our apps and websites.\n\nThis is a critical role, and we're looking for someone with a rare combination of skills. As such, we expect to pay a premium for you.\n\nThings you'll do a lot\n• Talk to users. You'll show them early mocks of things we're working on and iterate based on their feedback. After we ship something, you'll follow up and make sure we nailed it.\n• Watch people use our products and then fix the parts that were unclear.\n• Design the UX/UI for complex interactions across our applications. \n• Collaborate with Engineering as your changes are implemented, and on-the-fly decisions are needed.\n\nThings you must do well\n• Maintain a crazy-high bar for product polish.\n• Take feedback and collaborate like a pro.\n• Learn our design languages and create mockups for our devs.\n• See projects through.\n\nIdeally, but not a deal-breaker: \n• Write HTML/CSS/JS\n• Open PRs on our web apps with design improvements.\n• Know how to design a good looking logo\n• Create beautiful motion designs\n\nProjects you’re likely to work on\n• Being deployed on consulting projects for our client partners in the liberty movement\n\nThings you WON’T have to do\n• Work with no feedback and input from others.\n• Ask permission to try interesting new approaches.\n• Work nine to five.\n\nWhy you might want to work with us\n• We're small, so there is little to no bureaucracy. You can have a huge impact here.\n• We keep meetings rare, short, and productive.\n• You can work remotely, though you'll need to have a reasonable overlap with US time zones.\n• You'll have a front-row seat at an early-stage, fast-growing company with many people that have done this before. If you hope to start your own thing someday, this could be great preparation.\n• You'll report to our Head of Product, Ian.\n• This role is part-time and all-remote.\n• We’re growing fast and this could eventually turn into a full-time opportunity.\n\nWhy you might NOT want to work with us\n• You are not bullish on the potential of technology.\n• You don’t ❤️ capitalism.\n• You'll report to our Head of Product, Ian.\n \nBoring but necessary requirements \n• A sizable portfolio you’re proud of. Applications without a portfolio won’t be considered.\n• 3+ years of experience. This is a senior role, so we need someone with proven skills across a range of projects.\n• Must have some consistent working hours that overlap with US time zones\n\nRates\n$50 - $120 / hr depending on portfolio, skills, and availability\n\n\n
