Bring your system administration skills to a company where you’ll be part of a small team helping to support a rapidly-growing user base. We’re looking for someone with flexibility, great problem-solving skills, who loves learning new things, works well on their own and in a group, and has a strong ability to communicate and a big sense of humor. You should be offended by inelegant solutions and take it personally when the servers aren’t giving the captain all they’ve got.

About Us
TeamSnap (www.teamsnap.com)  is an award-winning mobile and web service for managing ongoing activities including recreational and competitive sports teams, social groups, and other organizations. With a simple but powerful online interface, TeamSnap makes it easy to keep track of participants, schedules, attendance and availability, payments, statistics and much more. Comprehensive messaging functions keep everyone in touch, and with a strong focus on usability and simplicity, TeamSnap is software that people actually find fun to use.

With over 10 million customers in 195 countries and teams representing more than 100 different sports and non-sport groups, TeamSnap has quickly become one of the fastest-growing team and group management solutions available.

What You’ll Be Doing
Help keep our flagship application humming along by fixing bugs, responding to customer issues and requests and identifying places where we can make improvements. You’ll spend your days working with the product management and customer experience teams to make sure TeamSnap is bug free and problems are solved quickly, while working with the experts on our software development team to escalate issues that require a deeper look.

You should know Ruby (preferred), Python, Perl or other interpreted languages (or be willing to learn them quickly) along with a web framework such as Rails or Django and a solid background in technology. Strong communication and listening skills are a must, because sometimes you’ll be talking directly to customers. You’ll work with our code often and be trusted to make the right decisions for the company and our users.

Some things that are pretty important to us:  We're looking for that diamond in the rough who was taking apart their parents VCR, DVD player, toaster (you get the idea) when they were a kid and has been tinkering ever since.  Someone who sees a bug and wants to play Sherlock Holmes and trace it to its origin. If you love to learn, are down to earth, super positive, not afraid to jump in or ask questions and always involved in technology side projects in addition to whatever paid work you're doing, then this is the right role for you.

How You’ll Spend Your Day
  • Evaluating and fixing bugs in TeamSnap. Most of these will come from our support team, but some you will find yourself. You’ll need to work with product management and software development teams to prioritize and fix as needed.
  • Identifying areas for refactoring. Many issues are not quick fixes but require a re-thinking and refactoring. You will help find these, and often times fix them.
  • Recommending usability improvements. Some customer issues aren’t bugs. You’ll suggest improvements to the product management team.
  • Learning TeamSnap inside and out. It’s a big application. We’d love to help you grow as a software developer and advance within the company.

Must-Have Skills and Attributes
  • An ability to work from home in a self-directed manner. We’re not going to be looking over your shoulder.
  • A natural curiosity and passion for software development and/or technology in general.
  • A good understanding of the Ruby programming language and Rails framework. We’d love to see what you have built in the past.
  • Customer-focused attitude and a willingness to do-what-it-takes to help internal and external users.
  • A basic understanding of (cloud) hosted web applications and their structure.
  • A good understanding of SQL databases and SQL queries.
  • Comfort on the Linux command line.

Nice-To-Have Skills
  • Basic Linux system administration skills.
  • Experience with Git and/or GitHub.
  • Javascript/jQuery experience.
  • Mac or Linux development environment.

Why TeamSnap?
Small team, big impact. We’re a relatively small company (and growing rapidly) where you’ll make a difference on day one, shipping real code and solving customer issues. Sometimes you’ll get to know the customers by name.

Work the way you want to work. Many people on our development team work remotely. Work from your home, a coffee shop or the beach. Take time off during the day when you need it. We’re about results, first and foremost. If you are located in the Boulder office, we have an office close to Pearl Street where you can work together with other team members, building your coding skills while being mentored by experts.

Join a successful company. We have a proven revenue model, an experienced management team, committed VC backing and a strong plan moving forward. This is not a fly-by-night startup but an established player and leader in a massive market.

Change lives. We help families stay healthy and spend more time together through the power of team sports and group activities. You’ll sleep better at night knowing that you’re working on something meaningful.

Learn more. We care deeply about our culture. You can read more at teamsnap.com/jobs

Other Stuff
We offer a competitive salary, great benefits and a real opportunity to show us what you’re made of if you aspire a career in software development, since we’re always looking to promote from within as we grow our company.

To apply: Go to: http://www.teamsnap.com/jobs and tell us why you want to work here. Links to code samples, your GitHub repo or your online resumé are a plus. And let’s face it, the first thing we’re gonna do is Google you. You’ll really impress us if you sign up for a free TeamSnap account, download our current app, and come at us with real ideas. If you feel up to it, show us a proof of concept of your idea integrated with our open API’s. We live and breathe our product, and we're looking for someone who will bring that same passion. We're certainly interested in your work history, but we're most interested in your ability to grow and your understanding of our product and your vision for its future. (Hint: We’re going to ask you about it in your interview.)

TeamSnap is seeking a smart, dynamic, endlessly-patient Customer Service Associate to work part-time giving world-class, personal support to our customers. We’ve become a favorite way to manage teams and clubs in large part because of a company-wide customer-first philosophy. Join our team and help our users and fans get the most out of TeamSnap.

You will spend the bulk of your time in our support management tool and the TeamSnap application, responding to questions, problems and suggestions from our customers. Many of the issues you’ll be able to solve yourself; a few will need to be escalated to the development team. Our customers for the most part are not power users, so you should be extremely patient and willing to answer seemingly simple questions again and again with a friendly, cheerful attitude.

You are also the public face of TeamSnap, and an advocate for our customers, so you may be asked to participate in TeamSnap development meetings to help shape our road map and new feature development. We’ll also rely on you to get inside the heads of our customers and help test new features before they go out to the public, identifying problem areas that might trip people up.

Requirements:

  • Existing TeamSnap user, preferably a team manager
  • Strong listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to write clearly and to give detailed written instructions.
  • Endlessly cheerful and patient personality, especially in writing.
  • A true desire to help people.
  • Ability to quickly learn everything about every feature of the TeamSnap application.
  • Flexible schedule-this position is for Days (Occasional Weekend/Evening).
  • Sense of humor. We’re fun.
  • Bonus if you’re name is Jennifer (we have 4 in Support and 6 in the company overall)

Bonus Skills: These aren’t necessarily required, but may give you a leg up.

  • Experience in team sports as a player, coach or parent.
  • Experience in both Mac and Windows, with a variety of different web browsers.
  • Experience testing software.
  • Billionaire uncle.

    Details and Location:

This is a part-time position to begin. There is a possibility that it could expand to full time in the future, and there is definite room for advancement within our company for the person who wants to grow.

The job is at your own location, so there is no office to report to. You do need to have a reliable computer and Internet connection.

Flexible availability is also required, as this position will be for the days with the occasional Weekend/Evening required. Working 4-8 hrs each weekend day, a total of 15-20 hrs/wk.

Compensation is dependent on experience. Benefits are not included for part-time work.
