Spruce builds digital versions of identification, like mobile driver’s licenses, that offer more security, privacy protection, and control for individuals across their digital interactions. Credible is our product fostering three pillars of technology: privacy-enhancing, interoperable, and open source. \nThe site reliability engineer will serve as a bridge between development and customer operations teams, enabling the development team to bring new software or new features to production as quickly as possible, while also ensuring an agreed-upon acceptable level of IT operations performance and error risk in line with customer service level agreements. This individual will actively diagnose and manage deployment issues, as well as develop automation and mitigation systems to improve future deployments. This individual will be focused on customers in the Pacific time zone and their working hours will reflect this focus.\nThere are no well-worn paths or theoreticals here. While we don't require you to have Rust experience to apply for this job, you should demonstrate a strong aptitude for statically typed languages, memory management, and secure programming practices. \nResponsibilities\n\n* Contribute to new and existing Rust codebases, with a focus on high code quality (e.g., tasteful use of traits, code/memory footprint reduction, minimizing dependency trees, refactoring between enums/structs, using macros to reduce copy-paste errors, etc.). \n\n* Utilize best practices for unit tests, integration tests, benchmarking, documentation, version control hygiene, and open source release cycle management.\n\n* Implement low-level systems code that is cross-compiled and performantly ran across platforms, including backend servers, mobile devices, and in the browser through WASM.\n\n* With support and review from cryptographers, use cryptographic APIs to implement digital signatures, message authentication, encryption/decryption, data structures, and zero-knowledge proof protocols for production applications. You will work on a credential wallet that allows end users to control their digital identity while keeping their privacy. Across our product lines, we use a combination of core identity libraries, cutting-edge cryptography, and new interoperable identity standards.\nThis mobile application embeds audited Rust code via native SDKs and leverages low level device communications protocols. We will rely on your expertise to tame this ambitious architecture to ensure a flawless UX from conception to release.\nResponsibilities\n\n\n\n* Refactor, maintain, and extend the open source credential wallet application on both Android and iOS. The desired architecture is a set of reusable SDK legos that contain most of the core functionality and UX workflow components.
