Hiya. We’re SkyVerge and we love eCommerce. Our products help merchants manage and grow their online stores, all the way from boutique corner shop to Fortune 500 retailers. We’re looking for a talented Executive Assistant to join our fully-distributed company and help our team with day-to-day operations and logistics.
The Role
You’ll assist with day-to-day operations of the company, finance, HR, culture, and travel. The role is dynamic and encompasses a wide variety of administrative and research tasks, along with ownership of larger projects that impact the whole company. Here are some things you may do on a given day:
- Research & classify transactions from our company Amex account
- Update Financial spreadsheets to ensure our budget remains accurate
- Develop new pages for our team wiki, or edit existing ones to make sure they’re current
- Handle scheduling for team meetings
- Research and coordinate team and vendor gifts
- Research & book flights, accommodations, transportation, and activities for retreats and conferences
- Procure, manage, and ship company swag to our team, customers, and partners
- Help manage and administer benefits for all team members
- Research and present concepts for new benefit programs or other company best practices
- Help with recruiting logistics by scheduling interviews and follow-up emails
In addition, you’ll be responsible for planning and managing ongoing projects like:
- SkyTrip, our annual company retreat
- Conference Sponsorships and Attendance (like Shopify Unite, WooConf, and IRCE)
- our Team wiki (like a company handbook) and team onboarding
You’ll have the opportunity to work with and get to know every member of our team, in addition to developing relationships with our vendors and partners. This role comes with a lot of trust and autonomy — while some projects will be very clearly defined, most will have a broad objective, and you’ll be responsible for developing a plan of attack, then given wide latitude in your execution.
You
You’re a friendly and kind person, who excels at self-direction and is driven by helping others as part of a team. You’re an excellent communicator with the ability to thrive in a distributed environment. You have incredible organizational skills that are flexible and adaptable, with a true love of attention to detail. Your capacity for problem-solving and your ability to prioritize and manage competing tasks will be crucial. Perhaps most importantly, you have demonstrated a willingness and excitement to learn and grow.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Technical competency in using your computer/operating system of choice
- Experience working with a wide variety of web applications and other productivity programs, like G Suite (Gmail / Calendar), Excel, Slack, GitHub, Trello, QuickBooks Online
- Deep competency with the Google Docs suite (especially Google Sheets), along with similar tools like Dropbox Paper
- Native-level fluency in English (Are you fluent in other languages? Tell us! We love being able to communicate with our customers & partners in their native language.), along with outstanding written communication
- Demonstrated experience coordinating schedules and multiple events.
- The ability to understand complex business workflows and develop processes that help make them simple and efficient. Bonus points for being able to identify and implement tools that improve those processes.
- Impeccable research skills; able to synthesize clear, straightforward summaries of complex and varied sources
- High level of emotional intelligence
- Excitement for your work along with a sense of humor about things. We try not to take ourselves too seriously.
- Boundless curiosity for our team, products, and customers
- Ability to thrive in a remote environment (along with a reliable internet connection)
It’s helpful if:
- You’re comfortable writing in plain HTML or Markdown
- You have some experience with accounting / financials
- You’ve used Airbnb/Uber Business
- You’ve worked for a fully-remote organization in the past
Our team is fully-remote and we communicate primarily through Slack, GitHub, and weekly stand-ups on Monday via Zoom (a few short meetings on Monday) — we believe the best work happens when given lots of uninterrupted time that’s free of distractions.
As a remote team, we believe that regular meet-ups are invaluable for getting to know each other better, so you should be available for 1-2 company-paid team trips per year. Curious about these trips? Check out our recap of our last team retreat (SkyTrip) to get an idea of what they’re like (you’ll be planning the next one!)
This is a full-time, salaried position, but hours are flexible. We know your work will speak for itself with travel planned, wiki pages edited, swag shipped, and mischief managed.
Process
Qualified candidates will get an email with a few questions to answer via email. Following that, you’ll have a few 30 minute phone chats with different people on our team to learn more about you and answer any questions you have about the position and company.
If this goes well, we’ll invite you to join our team and start your 4-week trial. During this period you’ll work full-time as a contractor, or part-time on nights/weekends if you already have a full-time position. This gives you an opportunity to make sure you enjoy the work and the team, and it gives us an opportunity to evaluate your work. We’ll have regular chats each week to share feedback and make sure we’re on the same page. At the end of the 4 weeks, you’ll be offered a permanent position 🙂
Benefits
Here are some benefits we're excited to offer to our team members:
- Competitive salary
- Annual incentive for meeting team and company goals
- 25 days of paid time-off, in addition to 2 company holidays (SkyVerge Day in March, Founders Day in June 😀)
- Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance for US and Canadian residents and their families (reimbursements for comparable care for non-US/Canadian residents)
- 401k/RRSP Retirement plan with 4% company match for US/Canadian residents (contributions to comparable plans for non-US/Canadian residents)
- Work from anywhere that has a reliable internet connection
- The tools (hardware/software) you need to be productive
- Allowance for professional growth (books, courses, conferences)
- Home office or co-working allowance
- A Kindle to help you keep learning
We support workplace diversity and do not discriminate on any protected class. We believe when we work together as a team of different views, experiences, and ideas, we can build amazing things.

Hiya. We’re SkyVerge and we love eCommerce. Our products help merchants manage and grow their online stores, all the way from boutique corner shop to Fortune 500 retailers. We’re looking for two Customer Support Specialists to join our fully-distributed team and help support our entire suite of products.
The Role
You’ll be the first point of contact for our customers, helping them with problems, and answering questions. As part of a small team, you'll likely get your hands dirty with a little bit of everything.
Here are some things you may do on a given day:
- Assist customers by troubleshooting technical problems and escalating to the engineering team as needed
- Answer pre-sales questions, billing & account changes, and other feedback from customers
- Monitor social media and forums where customers may have questions or issues with our products and get them the help they need
- Help with customer onboarding by installing and modifying code on customers’ stores

- Help our engineering & product teams to identify areas where we can improve the customer experience
- Document and optimize our support process to improve customer satisfaction
With over 70 products across the three eCommerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads) that we support, there's plenty to learn. You’ll be expected to own the support queue for a set of products for a week before rotating to another set. We’re aiming for you to have broad knowledge (mile-wide, inch-deep) and work closely with the product & engineering team to tackle more technical or in-depth questions that go beyond your knowledge.
You
You have that unique combination of technical aptitude and empathy for the user. You’re comfortable with code but prefer to be customer-facing. You’re self-driven with a sense of urgency and draw satisfaction from going above and beyond to provide solutions. You’re an excellent communicator and have the ability to thrive in a distributed environment. Perhaps most importantly, you have a willingness to learn.
To succeed in this position, you will have:

- Working knowledge of JavaScript
- Native-level fluency in English (Are you fluent in other languages? Tell us! We love being able to support customers in their native language.)
- Outstanding written communication and interpersonal skills
- Boundless curiosity for our products and our customers
- Ability to thrive in a remote environment (along with a reliable internet connection)
It’s helpful if you have:
- Experience with PHP / Ruby (or other programming languages)
- Experience with WordPress
- Experience with Shopify / WooCommerce (or other eCommerce platforms)
- Experience supporting SaaS products
- Experience supporting downloadable software (especially in the LAMP stack)

SkyVerge is looking for a talented full-stack PHP engineer to join our team and help build our portfolio of WordPress plugins for WooCommerce. You'll write code that helps power mission-critical tools for millions of online stores.
The Role
You’ll be focused on building new features and maintaining existing code, while also helping with code reviews and customer support. With over 50 different plugins, there’s a wide variety of work. You might spend time on some complicated frontend interactions using JS, then switch focus to working with a tricky external REST API for a while, and later work on adding unit/acceptance tests to our framework code.
You’ll have the opportunity to really dive into a problem and understand it before crafting a well-engineered, high quality solution. We believe the best work happens when given lots of uninterrupted time to think and code.
Our plugins are built on top of WordPress and designed to work with WooCommerce, so we use PHP 5.2+ (moving soon to PHP 5.3 minimum) and we write all new JS in CoffeeScript. We follow a superset of the WordPress coding standards and are actively investing in automated testing to help improve both the quality of products and the happiness of our team building them.
We work primarily through GitHub and Slack, so you should be able clearly express your ideas via comments and messages. All new code is tested and peer-reviewed, so you’ll be able to both learn from the rest of the team and share your knowledge.
You
You love solving engineering challenges in the most pragmatic way possible. You write code that's clear, readable, and standards-compliant. More importantly, you keep the end user in mind and love getting feedback from customers to help improve our products.
You're excited to join a small team that loves their work as much as you do, and affords the opportunity to work on interesting projects, continuously learn and improve, and to constantly ship cool projects. You're an excellent communicator, whether written, in person, or via video chat (native-level English fluency is required). You know that code is about communication and that explaining yourself clearly goes hand-in-hand.
Our team is fully remote and stays in touch primarily via Slack and weekly stand-ups over Zoom. That said, we believe face time is valuable. Availability for 1-2 company-paid team trips (SkyTrip!) per year is necessary.
This is a full-time, salaried position, but hours are flexible. We know your work will speak for itself with commits, issues closed, and wiki edits. However, fit with our team and culture is important. As a result, all of our team members go through a 30-day period as a contractor before becoming a permanent team member. This helps us (and you) make sure we’re an ideal match. If not, either one of us can say, “Thanks!" and move on to different projects.
Process
Following an interview, we’ll ask you to complete a small paid project. If this goes well, we’ll invite you to our join the team and start your 30-day contract period.
Benefits
Here are some benefits we're excited to offer to our team members:
- Competitive salary
- Performance incentives for meeting team and company goals
- 25 days of paid time-off, in addition to 2 company holidays
- Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance for US and Canadian residents and their families (reimbursements for comparable care for non-US/Canadian residents)
- Retirement plan with company match
- The tools (hardware/software) you need to be productive
- Allowance for professional growth (e.g. books, conferences)
- Home office or co-working allowance
- A Kindle to help you keep learning
