Do you enjoy building websites for people who do cool things with WordPress? We’re looking for talented web developers and designers who are interested in working with a small Concierge team to build custom WordPress sites for a wide range of influential partners. These partners include, but aren’t limited to: social causes, musicians, bloggers, and podcasts. The Concierge team does everything from building WordPress sites from scratch to complex migrations to providing support and guidance. As a Concierge WordPress Engineer, your primary duties will include:
- Building custom WordPress sites for our partners hosted on Pressable, WordPress.com or self-hosting.
- Conducting code reviews for existing WordPress sites.
- Migrating partner sites to the best hosting platform that suits their needs.
- Troubleshooting and performing maintenance on previously-launched partner sites, and adding new features as needed.
- Teaming-up with agencies and contractors to assist with development on some projects.
- Joining in on phone calls with our partners.
We require a Concierge WordPress Engineer to have the following skills:
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS/Sass, and WordPress.
- Ability to write a WordPress theme from scratch, in PHP.
- Familiarity with and adherence to the WordPress Theme Development Standards. Experience with the Underscores or Components starter themes a strong plus.
- Familiarity with different hosting platforms.
- Good customer service skills -- you’ll be communicating directly with our partners.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills using popular tools (Slack, Google Drive, Zoom, etc.)
- A strong desire to work on websites for clients.
- Good troubleshooting skills.
- Self-starter who can manage time and projects efficiently.
- Understanding of Open Source and the various licenses around it.
A major plus if you have any of the following skills:
- Design: illustration, creating visual mock-ups, typography, wireframing the flows and UX of a complex site.
- Advanced development skills: JavaScript, jQuery, PHP beyond WordPress themes.
- Familiarity with servers and systems operations.
- Experience with site migrations.
- Writing and documentation skills; the ability to teach people.
- Experience with WordPress.com, WooCommerce, WordPress.com VIP, and Jetpack.
- Familiarity with Github and/or SVN, WP-CLI, and local development environments.
The job is remote, meaning you can work from anywhere you want as long as you have an internet connection! We ask everyone who applies to be authorized to work within the United States.
We may invite an applicant to complete a limited-time “trial” project as part of the hiring process. A trial is an opportunity for our team to get hands-on experience working with an applicant and evaluating their work. We pay applicants a standard rate of $15/hour while they work as a contractor to complete their trial project.

Happy customers are our greatest sales force and keeping those customers happy will be your focus. Pressable is looking for someone to have a positive and meaningful impact on the customer experience. You will be their first point of contact for the good, the bad, and the ugly.

We are looking for these specific qualities:
- Working knowledge of WordPress, HTML, and CSS.
- Basic knowledge and experience with domain registration and email setup.
- Ability to work independently and with little direction.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to clearly communicate ideas through text based mediums is key.
- Legal right to work in the USA.
- Availability to work one full weekend or two weekend days per month (with compensatory weekdays off).
Bonus if you’ve got:
- Experience working with PHP.
- Experience working in a command line interface.
This person will have the following responsibilities:
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve customer reported issues.
- Respond to help desk tickets in a clear, thorough, and timely manner.
- Assist customers in moving websites to Pressable’s servers.
- Identify issues with Pressable’s customer facing toolset and report them to the appropriate team(s).
- Answer WordPress related questions and make simple recommendations to customers based on their needs.
- Identify malware on infected websites and assist in cleanup.
- Writing and updating knowledge base articles.

You will be responsible for a lot of things, the biggest of which is Pressable’s infrastructure and its upkeep. Core competency and background in an Ubuntu clustered environment is a must for this position.
We’re looking for someone who will help us build one of the finest data center/ops teams in the world. This means that they must possess the ability to identify and hire top notch team members and identify gaps in the architecture in order to help us work towards closing those gaps.
At Pressable, we do not ask our teammates to do anything that we aren’t capable of accomplishing and comfortable with doing ourselves. This person must share the same outlook and be a good fit within our teamwork-heavy environment. The individual needs be able to traverse around and train others in the environment that they have architected.
We are looking for these specific qualities:
- Experience in systems administration and a deep understanding of how the basic web-related services (load balancers, high availability solutions, web servers, databases, caching daemons, etc.) work.
- Great programming skills and good knowledge of both scripting and compiled languages (especially PHP, C, and Bash). Kernel space programming experience is a plus.
- Previous experience programming on Linux. Must understand things like processes management, memory management, operating with sockets, and writing highly optimized code.
- Ability to handle all phases of a project on your own, from idea to implementation.
- Well versed in the best security and performance practices both with web and systems applications.
- Great troubleshooting skills. Must be able to take big problems and break them down into manageable pieces with elegant solutions.
- Previous experience managing teams and project managing systems deployments.
This person will have full control of:
- Redundant infrastructure that hosts some of the most popular sites on the internet
- Identify and hiring one or more individuals to augment the team the DevOps team
- The operational schedule of the DevOps team
Day-to-day responsibilities for the next quarter will include:
- Daily upkeep/maintenance and monitoring of existing systems
- Architecting new solutions for faster growth and deployment
- Working with Engineering to build test beds for new architecture and deployment
- Responding to monitoring alerts and troubleshooting problems
- Starting the process of identifying a new DevOps team member
