Overview PhishMe is seeking a lead Quality Assurance engineer to join our growing Quality Assurance team. This position will support the day-to-day operations of a QA team, including multiple software products in an Agile/Scrum environment as well as lead that team's efforts to improve reliability and efficiency.
The successful candidate may have a four-year degree and will probably have eight (8) or more years of experience in Quality Assurance, with three (3) or more in a project or team lead capacity. Experience in software development roles may be a plus. While this is a leadership role on the team, supervisory experience is not needed, and this position will not directly supervise employees. This is a full-time position working for PhishMe, Inc.
Responsibilities - Provide day-to-day oversight of Quality Assurance activities across multiple product teams
- Present frequent product development and testing status updates to QA management
- Help to drive Agile process from the Quality Assurance perspective
- Provide guidance to QA engineers on work estimates, daily/weekly priorities, and other quality related issues
- Review manual test cases and plans
- Review and coordinate automated tests
- Work with Quality Assurance engineers to identify ways to streamline and consolidate manual and automated testing processes and infrastructure
- Help to implement and enforce compliance with Quality Assurance policies
- Investigate emergent issues and conduct root cause analyses
- Identify and gather metrics to demonstrate impact of quality activities on product development
- Manage the Engineering ticketing and documentation systems (JIRA and Confluence) and lead implementation of related tools
- Coordinate work for external QA resources
- Where needed, assist with quality activities such as manual and automated testing

Qualifications Successful applicants must be: - A quality engineer with eight (8) or more years of experience in manual and/or automated testing, with three (3) or more of those in a project or team lead role
- Self-motivated
- Proficient at written and verbal communication, with English fluency in both
- Familiar with Agile software development methods, especially Scrum and Kanban
- Experienced with at least some software deployment tools (e.g. Jenkins)
- Experienced with managing and configuring test infrastructure (e.g. remote virtual machines)
- Experienced with root cause analysis techniques (e.g. Five Whys)
- Experienced with scoping and estimating quality-related work with acceptable accuracy
- Experienced using issue tracking tools to manage work and file defects, especially JIRA
- Familiar with documentation systems, especially Confluence
- Familiar with testing using recent Windows and Apple operating systems
- Familiar with testing web applications with popular web browsers (in particular, Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox)
- Experienced with both black box and white box testing

- Familiar with command-line tools under Linux, OS X, and/or Windows
- At least minimally familiar with running ruby scripts, preferably with rvm and bundler
- Familiar with using git for browsing and cloning repositories
- Familiar with using local and remote virtual machines for testing
- Able to work on a distributed team, escalating issues as necessary
- Able to mentor and guide less experienced QA engineers
- Able and available to work eight hours per weekday, preferably contiguously, with at least five of those hours between 8am and 6pm ET

Responsibilities
- Work closely with Engineering and Product teams to identify and implement solutions that meet production, QA, development, and administrative needs in Linux-based environments
- Interface with on-site system administrators
- Architect and maintain multi-site, high-availability solutions
- Own and suggest improvements to our deployment process and tools
- Diagnose and resolve production system issues
- Manage DNS zone files and configuration
- Participate in rotating on-call schedule

- Are proficient with configuration management tools (Chef preferred)

- Have experience deploying Rails applications
- Can effectively use git and understand common SCM workflows
- Have experience using and supporting CI environments (Jenkins/Docker)
- Are able to find solutions to technical puzzles with atypical constraints
- Can manage and support production environments across various platforms: remote (VMs/physical), cloud (AWS), and on-site vendor products
- Have managed production DNS zone files
- Can implement and manage high-availabiity infrastructure solutions with automatic failover
- Managed MySQL and PostgreSQL in production environments (replication is a big plus)
- Enjoy sharing knowledge via documentation
