\n\n \n\nLloyds Banking Group is the UK's leading digital bank and biggest mobile bank with over 13.5 million active online customers across our three main brands.\n\nWe've placed digitisation at the heart of our strategy to become the bank of the future backed with an investment of £3bn over three years in our people, platforms and data capabilities.\n\n \n\nA fantastic opportunity has arisen to join us as a Lead Engineer on the LBG Retail customer database, known internally as Operational Customer Information System (OCIS) system, which is a critical Bank system that underpins many critical business processes.\n\n \n\nYou will be working within our Customer Data Services Lab team in a specialised, mainly Java focussed team.\n\n \n\nHere's where you'll make a difference:\n\n \n\nYou'll be supporting, maintaining and improving mission critical Java based systems with the passion to build a career and be recognized within LBG as an exemplar customer centric engineer on the systems you support.\n\n \n\nYou'll bring fresh ideas to enable us to optimize the way in which we work and achieve early value release for our customers whilst driving down the total cost of ownership of our products.\n\n \n\nDrive agile adoption in the teams as part of the broader engineering community including the cultural aspects of agile as well as adoption of tools like JIRA & Confluence to visualise the work and drive democratised contributions.\n\n \n\nCollaborate successfully and deepen relationships across the Group with teams in UK (London, Manchester & Bristol hubs) and India and gain exposure to mainframe systems (Cobol) and develop a sound understanding of the system landscape.\n\n \n\nWe'll encourage you to become an expert, a leader in your field, a go-to person with influence over tooling and quality control. You'll help set the direction for all software engineers within your area, with an awareness of industry changes to software products used in LBG and be able to suggest where we can utilize improvements to our advantage.\n\n \n\nYou'll champion LBG values and behaviours and be committed to ensuring LBG achieves its goal of being the 'best bank for customers'.\n\n \n\nYou'll have a passion for problem solving, collaborating and coding to include the below:\n\n \n\n*Previous Engineering experience, leading a diverse portfolio of activity with the ability to act independently and take the initiative whilst thinking outside the box to resolve challenges.\n\n \n\n*Problem solving capabilities ideally gained from a relevant software support / development environment.\n\n \n\n*The capability to critique and peer review solutions ensuring software design is as robust, efficient and fit for purpose as possible.\n\n \n\n*Experience working with relational databases and how business transactions are reflected\n\n \n\nTechnically we'll need you to have...\n\n \n\n*Strong core Java knowledge (Spring, Hibernate, JEE)\n\n*Confluence/JIRA Agile toolsets.\n\n*Jenkins\n\nIf you also have experience of JAVA services running under WebSphere / Liberty Core, C and Scala then this would be a bonus.\n\n \n\nDesirable but not essential will be\n\n \n\n*Mainframe systems written in COBOL.
