LifeWay IT is producing cutting-edge products and resources that are changing lives.
The Software Engineer - Front End is responsible for the facilitation of communication, collaboration, and integration between software engineers and application engineers helping to rapidly produce results for our cutting-edge products and resources.
We are looking for a great JavaScript developer who is proficient with React.js and familiar with its ecosystem (Redux, GraphQL, Jest, React Native, etc.). Your primary focus will be on on the front-end (Web and React Native) developing user interface components and implementing them following well-known React.js workflows (such as Flux or Redux — we use Redux). Responsibilities will include translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application. You will work with the UI/UX designer(s) and bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.
You’ll work independently on deliverables but also participate in a very collaborative environment with teammates from various backgrounds coming together to solve challenging problems as a team. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and quality product is important.
Responsibilities
- Developing new user-facing features using React.js, Redux, redux-logic, etc. using TDD
- Building reusable components and front-end libraries for future use
- Translating designs and wireframes into high quality code
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
- Optimizing components for maximum performance across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers
- Contributing to a pool of reusable components, containers, reducers, utilities
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model
- Experience delivering code using TDD or BDD
- Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles
- Experience with popular React.js workflows (such as Flux or Redux)
- Familiarity with newer specifications of EcmaScript (ES6, 2015, 2017)
- Experience with data structure libraries (e.g., Immutable.js)
- Proficient to Advanced understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
- Experience with server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
- Strong knowledge of web standards
- Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
- Knowledge of isomorphic React is a plus
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token
- Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools
- Experience with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc.
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
- A knack for benchmarking and optimization
- Familiarity with code versioning tools — We use Git
Additional Skills
- Familiartiy with ePubs
- Experience or interest in working with Scala.js
- Specialization in HTML5 and strong knowledge of its specification
- Some experience with Angular 1.x (We are migrating Angular apps to React, but need to be familiar navigating an Angular codebase)
- Experience working on a fully remote team
