\nWe are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and hands-on Engineering Lead (EL) to help build the best user experience for our brand new product. You will be joining our Customer Experience (CX) Tribe and lead one of the teams responsible for our customer-facing product. You will work closely with your squad, UX engineer, PO, other ELs and CX Tribe Leader. You will have a leading role in shipping high-quality product your team is responsible for and you will have a key role in developing your people and building a high-performing team.\nWe are working with a modern stack consisting of ES2016, React 16, Redux and Ramda. We use Babel and Webpack and our server runs on Node.js, while our APIs are built with Go and Elixir. We employ unit, snapshot, and end-to-end testing where it adds value, and use Flow and ESLint / Prettier to keep our code base in good shape, even with multiple A/B tests running simultaneously. We work in a flexible, results-oriented and customer-centric team structure, focussed on shipping value in a collaborative fashion, with hopefully just the right amount of bureaucracy.\nWhat you will actually be doing / responsibilities\n* Lead a squad of 3-4 FE engineers to design, build and ship a high-quality product\n* Own the technical and operational roadmap of the squad\n* Work closely with the PO and other stakeholders to assist in making good decisions\n* Facilitate the squads rituals and ensure the squad is efficient\n* This is a hands-on role. Hence, you will be designing and shipping high-quality features too\n* Be a partner for your people in their professional and personal growth\n* Perform regular 1-1s, advocate for your people and identify opportunities for them\n\n\nWhat a day in the office might look like\nIn the morning, you and your squad have an online refinement session with your PO, UX designer and you are discussing the design and implementation of new features that will enable the team to ship a great new experience for our customers. You carefully consider the impact of the new features on the entire product and support the team with identifying any bottlenecks, risks and unknowns. You raise questions that help refine the requirements and uncover impact on other parts of the system. You facilitate the conversation and make sure that everyone is focused on building on top of each other’s ideas in the process of finding the best possible solution. Today you decided to be in the office, and after lunch with the team you play table tennis or pool and go for a walk with colleagues in the city center. After that you work with an engineer to unblock them and conduct a 1-1 with one of your engineers. In the late afternoon you have scheduled a deep-work time and you are working on a complex implementation for one of the new features the squad is planning to ship this sprint. Throughout the day you were keeping an eye on the application dashboard in DataDog and checked the effect on a newly released feature in Looker (there you see the A/B test dashboard). \n\n#Salary\n - \n\n\n#Location\nAmsterdam

\nWe are looking for enthusiastic, motivated senior front-end engineers to help build the best user experience for our brand new product. You will collaborate with team members with a wide range of expertise, including other engineers, UX experts, data analysts, and a PO.\nWe are working with a modern stack consisting of ES2016, React 16, Redux and Ramda. We use Babel and Webpack and our server runs on Node.js, while our APIs are built with Go and Elixir. We employ unit, snapshot, and end-to-end testing where it adds value, and use Flow and XO / Prettier to keep our code base in good shape, even with multiple A/B tests running simultaneously. We work in a flexible, results-oriented team structure, focussed on shipping value in a collaborative fashion, with hopefully just the right amount of bureaucracy.\n\n\nWhat you will be doing:\n* Work with your team to build innovative multi-device hotel marketplace products. Besides your own specialisation, you will be involved in shaping all key aspects of our customer-facing products.\n* Relentlessly improve the end-user’s experience and validate your work via A/B testing with real users.\n* Optimise device-specific web experiences, including mobile phones, tablets and desktop devices.\n* Work on new initiatives to help our users find, book and manage their bookings directly from FindHotel.\n\n\n\nWhat a day in the office might look like:\nIn the morning, you and your fellow engineers sit down with your Product Owner, UX designer and a Data Scientist to discuss the trajectory of an ongoing A/B test. You decide together that based on available data, a new variation for the way we display room perks on the mobile search result page is expected to improve conversion. After lunch you and the UX designer sketch the variation which you will build together with your fellow teammates. After you deploy your experiment to the live site you'll be brainstorming about that new feature you want to build for the tablet optimised version of the website, which is added to the backlog of test ideas. After a few days, the Data Scientist will update the team on the status of the A/B test, for which you and the team will plan follow up tasks in the next planning session.\n\nThe squads\nYou will be working with one of our multi-disciplinary squads to help you shape the product to our users' needs. We currently have three customer-facing squads, one working on the search funnel, another squad dedicated to our booking / checkout process and a new squad focussing on retention of our users. We are happy to work with you throughout the recruitment process to find the right squad for you to start in.\nYou will work together with other squads such as performance marketing and customer support, as well as the teams that are responsible for building the services used by the product. \n\n#Salary\n - \n\n\n#Location\nAmsterdam
