We're looking for a Senior Devops Engineer to help us automate and scale CompanyCam as we continue to grow. This is an important role and you will work directly with the CTO.\n\n# Responsibilities\n Our infrastructure has evolved over the years but has been managed by a single developer without much experience being a sysadmin. After several iterations we have a semi-automated system in place to fire up new infrastructure but it is far from perfect. We are looking for someone who is comfortable in taking our existing infrastructure and evolving it to the next step. You will be responsible for monitoring and responding to service disruptions as well as working with the development team to proactively improve performance.\n\n**What you'll be working with**\n\nOur infrastructure is made up of a handful of web and worker servers hosted in AWS running Ubuntu and provisioned with Ansible. We make use of several AWS services such as ElasticCache, RDS, Elasticsearch, and Lambda. Our stack consists of Rails, Nginx, Puma, Postgres, PGBouncer, Mongo, and Kafka. \n\n# Requirements\n* 4+ years as a sysadmin minimum\n* Proven track-record automating and scaling systems\n* Prior experience managing databases, backups and replication\n* Knowledge of security issues and mitigation techniques\n* Enjoys teaching others\n\n#Location\n๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆNorth America

We're looking for a full-stack Ruby on Rails developer to join our expanding team. You'll get to work on our web app, public APIs, as well as internal management tools.\n\n**What you'll be working with**\nOur stack consists of Ruby on Rails, React, SCSS, Webpacker, Postgres, Mongo, Kafka and S3. We use CodeShip for continuous integration and Capistrano for deployment. Get your feature out when it is ready, we ship multiple times per day. If something exists use it, no need to re-invent the wheel.\n\n# Responsibilities\n Our product is growing fast, and it's vital we optimize for scale. Your duties will include **developing features from start to finish, refactoring legacy code** to increase stability and performance, with **continual testing** for reliability.\n\nThis role will be well suited for someone that can wrap their mind around the bigger picture and think long-term about the solutions they develop. You should be comfortable working independently and with minimal management. \n\n# Requirements\n* Preferably located in North America or with 5 hours overlap with business hours in CST\n* 4+ years working with tech similar to ours\n* Exercises pragmatism\n* Self-starter without much need for management\n* Takes pride in their code\n* Enjoys teaching others \n\n#Salary\n$100000-120000\n\n\n#Location\n๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆNorth America

\nHI, WE'RE COMPANYCAM\n\nWe create simple-to-use, visual-first communication and accountability tools for contractors. Imagine a B2B SaaS app that doesn’t look like garbage, built by a team of capable, laid back people. But don’t let the chill throw you off; we’re a fast-growing, product-led startup with big plans for the future.\n\nTHE ROLE\n\nWe’re looking for a sharp, self-motivated, problem-solving Backend Engineer to join our team.\n\nUsing your knowledge of Ruby on Rails, you’ll work alongside other engineers, designers, and product managers to tackle everything from huge company initiatives to modest but important bug fixes, from start to finish. You’ll also collaborate with the Product Team on discovery, helping to assess the feasibility of product changes. And, perhaps most importantly, you’ll actively contribute to the evolution of the culture and processes of a growing Engineering team.\n\nWHY COMPANYCAM?\n\nDid you wake up this morning with a burning desire to create apps for contractors? No? I didn’t think so. I admit, it’s not something one thinks about without some prompting. But bear with me for a moment...\n\nContractors are everywhere. They build our homes, they literally put roofs over our heads, they wire up our electricity, give us access to the internet, fix our plumbing and AC, paint our homes, the list goes on. At CompanyCam, you’ll work with intelligent, kind people to make contractors' work easier and create time for them, so they can get shit done and spend more time with their families. Sound corny? You’ll find that mid-westerner ethos permeate our culture (we’re based in Lincoln, NE), so if you can’t hang with that, no hard feelings, but this probably isn’t the role for you.\n\nWORKING AT COMPANYCAM\n\nOur Product and Engineering departments do things a little differently. We use Basecamp’s Shape Up method to organize and execute our work. That means you’ll work in 6-week cycles with a small team of one designer plus one or two other engineers on 1-3 projects, depending on their size.. Then, you’ll get a 1-2 week cool-down where you’ll pursue educational opportunities, work on pet projects, or smash some bugs that have been nagging at you. Rinse and repeat until code nirvana.\n\nSounds nice, right? No sprinting, no scrumming, no death by 1,000 meetings. We protect our engineer’s time, treat them like adults, and trust them to get their work done. We’re also big on not overworking people. Put in your eight hours and TURN. SLACK. OFF. No nights and weekends.\n\nOur larger company culture is also refreshingly chill. We have fun, learn from each other, and don’t take ourselves too seriously. Read more about what it’s like here.\n\nWe cover the important stuff too. We pay well, offer unlimited vacation, meaningful equity, health insurance, and other benefits. If you're local or down to move, we’re custom remodeling a new office space in the Lincoln Haymarket area that you’ll love. If you're remote (most of the engineering team is), we’re well set up to with great conference room video equipment so you feel like you’re there with us, and we’ll fly you in a few times a year to hang out (you CANNOT miss Lake Day!)\n\nWHAT WE ASK OF YOU\n\nMust-haves\nThese are our non-negotiables:\n\n\n* Show up: have the courage to do difficult but necessary stuff.\n\n* Grow up: take responsibility, learn continuously, and have a growth mindset\n\n* Do good: treat your co-workers and customers the way you want to be treated\n\n* Strong experience with and knowledge of Ruby on Rails\n\n\n\n\n\nNice-to-haves\nDay to day, you’ll spend 90%+ of your time working in Ruby on Rails, but, of course, that’s not all you’ll work with. While experience with the following technologies are not required (we’re cool with some on-the-job learning), you will see them with varying levels of frequency:\n\n\n* GraphQL & REST\n\n* PostgreSQL\n\n* Redis\n\n* AWS services (S3, EC2, etc)\n\n* ElasticSearch\n\n* MongoDB\n\n\n\n\n\nThis position can be U.S. Remote or in our Lincoln office. At least one year of remote experience is required if you plan on working remotely. We are not accepting applicants outside the U.S. at this time.

\nYou want to work on something fun and make a living in the process—we get it.\n\nWe're out to build the most kickass camera app and cloud photo storage service for contractors—and to have a good time doing it. Our hard work is paying off and we're one of the fastest growing apps for contractors. But, we don't take ourselves too seriously, and to be honest, we won't take you too seriously either.\n\nIf you're into the whole not-too-serious thing, but also enjoy building awesome stuff, please get in touch.\n\nYou...\n\n\n* Want to join a startup with our Story, Values, and Perks.\n\n* Have at least three years professional experience as a software engineer.\n\n* Know how to build an app that people rely on with performance in mind.\n\n* Want to develop user-facing features from start-to-finish on autonomous, cross-functional teams. No throwing it over the wall here: you'll work tightly with designers to move features over the finish line.\n\n* While you specialize in mobile development, you're also a generalist, willing to hop in where needed to achieve team and company goals.\n\n* Enjoy refactoring legacy code to increase stability and performance.\n\n* Enjoy teaching others.\n\n* Are a pragmatist at heart, focusing on managing tradeoffs and shipping rather than perfection. You lean toward using existing libraries and tech instead of reinventing the wheel.\n\n* Have experience working with items in our tech stack. Our app is primarily built with React Native alongside some custom native libraries in Java, Objective-C, Swift, and C++ for core functionalities. We use Apollo and GraphQL, alongside Redux for local state management.\n\n* Know the ins-and-outs of what it takes to deploy apps to the App Store and Google Play.\n\n* Have a growth mindset.\n\n\n\n\nWe... \n\n\n* Are a fast-growing, product-led startup with big plans for the future.\n\n* Are a team of nerds and former contractors, roofers, and remodelers excited to build tools to save people time.\n\n* Don't take ourselves too seriously: work isn't the most important thing in life.\n\n* Embrace change. We'll be a different company a year from now, and a different one a year after that.\n\n* Have a passion for excellence.\n\n* Will pay you well and give you meaningful equity, along with health insurance and other benefits.\n\n* Will treat you like an adult and let you take as much time off as you need if you're getting work done.\n\n* Have a great, soon-to-be-custom-remodeled office in the Lincoln Haymarket but love working remotely too.\n\n* Are set up to handle remote employees: good conference room video equipment abounds.\n\n\n\n\nThis position can be U.S. Remote or in our Lincoln office. At least a year of remote team experience is required if you plan on working remotely. We are not accepting applicants outside the U.S. at this time.

\nWe're a startup, looking for a knowledgeable Android developer with experience supporting multiple versions of Android.  Experience working with precise GPS/location services, custom camera flows, and photo manipulation is a plus. Should have at least a year of solid full-time experience.\n\nOk, now, a little bit about us:\n\nChad, our CTO, is awesome.  He just got a new DJI Phantom 3 drone, and, if you join our team, he may just let you fly it sometime. Maybe...\n\nJared, our designer and front-end developer, is a recovering mechanical engineer. He also runs his own (very successful) photography business on the side.  He's annoyingly good at a lot of things.  He may even take some glamour shots of you... if you ask nicely!\n\nI, your humble founder, came from the construction industry.  I found a problem that no one else was solving and thought 'hey, I should do that'.  Right now, we're only three, but we're getting traction and are growing.  We'd love to have you along for the ride!
