We draw on each other's strengths and allow for different work styles to build engagement and satisfaction to deliver results.\n\n**What you'll be doing:**\n\n- Build responsive, mobile-friendly, and beautiful web applications\n- Create REST-based web services and APIs for consumption by mobile and web platforms\n- Implement new features in a highly collaborative environment with product managers, UI/UX experts, and fellow engineers\n- Contribute to a future-ready, high quality, performance code base\n- Share your technical solutions and product ideas with the team\n\n**What will make you successful:**\n\n- 5+ years software engineering experience with expertise in full stack development using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS\n- 2+ years with Vue.js, Angular or React\n- Experience with object-oriented design and building backend applications with REST API services\n- Experience designing and developing service-based architectures and micro services\n- Experience designing data persistence and caching concepts using both SQL and NoSQL DBMS (e.g.: MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, etcโ€ฆ)\n- Experience with test automation and BDD\n- Familiarity with performance optimization techniques\n- Enough DevOps experience to setup, configure, and maintain your own dev/build environment\n- Exceptional knowledge of software engineering best practices (e.g. Agile software development, test-driven development, unit testing, code reviews, design documentation)\n\n**Preferred Qualifications:**\n\n- Experience with Shopify development for e-commerce to include APIs, Liquid, custom apps, Shopify scripting and Flow\n- Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, Webpack/Grunt/Parcel, Express.js and Stripe API\n- Bachelor's or Masterโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience\n- Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g.: Docker, Vagrant, etcโ€ฆ)\n- Understanding of native and/or hybrid mobile development (iOS, Android, PhoneGap, ionic)\n- Hardware hacking and prototyping experience (e.g.: Arduino)\n- SAP experience to include integration\n- Entrepreneurial / start-up background\n\n**Other Relevant Skills and Abilities:**\n\n- Demonstrated ability to energize, develop, and build rapport at all levels within an organization\n- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work within a matrix organization structure\n- Team oriented ability to motivate and work well with diverse, cross functional teams\n- Ability to anticipate and plan ahead to manage potential barriers, obstacles, or progress โ€œroadblocksโ€\n- Demonstrable creativity with a keen focus on innovation.\n- Strong presentation skills\n- Ability to bring various points of view together to form a cohesive strategy\n\nArmstrong World Industries (AWI) is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer and we value diversity at our company. We draw on each other's strengths and allow for different work styles to build engagement and satisfaction to deliver results. \n \n**What you'll be doing:**\n\n- Set the technical vision and build the technical product roadmap to scale a word class product and services ecommerce experience; including defining long-term goals and strategies\n- Define technical requirements and systems architecture with clarity on feasibility, time, cost, and impact\n- Set buy/build strategy and negotiate with vendors to follow through on the strategy\n- Define best practices around coding methodologies, software development, and quality assurance\n- Attract and retain a team of world-class engineers\n- Establish a high performing, one-team engineering culture emphasizing creativity, growth, and development\n- Ensure all internal processes and external services comply with security and privacy regulations\n- Define and implement a consistent and repeatable process for quality assurance across all areas of organization and product build\n- Identify opportunities and challenges in the marketplace, with constant evaluation of technological advancements and innovation to mitigate impediments and cultivate success\n \n\n**What will make you successful:**\n\n- 8+ years architecting & building ecommerce experiences from pre-launch through maturity\n- Startup experience in key engineering leadership positions at high-growth technology companies\n- Experience scaling products, overseeing their build from MVP to mass scale\n- Hands-on skills in one or more modern programming languages (Nodejs, Typescript and Ruby preferred)\n- Experience with building service based architecture including use of micro services frameworks\n- Deep experience of application security and experience with PCI and regulatory compliance\n- Strong knowledge of DevOps and cloud infrastructure services (AWS, Azure, etc.)\n- Very thorough analytical and problem-solving skills - including requirements analysis, debugging and risk assessment\n \n\n**Preferred experience:**\n\n- Experience in software development using Shopify\n- SAP integration experience\n- Demonstrates creativity with a keen focus on innovative.
