\nUpdate April 2020: If you are interested in what you read below, please apply and we'll get you started on the process. The process starts with a technical puzzle that should take around an hour and will give you an idea of exactly what we mean by software deconstruction. Got questions? You'll get a short intro call right after the puzzle. This is the best place to raise any questions you might have. Carve just hired someone and we are anticipating a late-summer, early-fall 2020 opportunity for the next great candidate. If you are a great candidate and have a different schedule we can talk about that right up front. Thanks ...the Carve team.\n\nThis job is only listed on Stack Overflow: https://stackoverflow.com/jobs/268907/software-deconstruction-engineer-aka-infosec-carve-systems\n\nWhat's the job?\n\n\n* Information security consulting: assessing the security of software and hardware systems.\n\n* Understanding how systems are built and learning how to break them.\n\n* Working with our experienced team on short-to-medium term engagements.\n\n\n\n\nWhat would you do?\n\nEvery two to three weeks you'll get a new project to work on. A typical project will involve:\n\n\n* Recon: Digging into the functionality, design, and implementation of the software system or device.\n\n* Probing: Searching for implementation weaknesses which could indicate a security issue. This is a combination of tools that we use, tools that we build, and manual probing. For device projects this can include firmware extraction, analysis, and hardware interfacing.\n\n* Extending: Now that you've found a weakness... how far can you extend your access into the system?\n\n* Writing: Now that you've hacked your way in you'll need to write-up your findings and work with the developers to make sure they understand what the problem is and how to fix it.\n\n\n\n\nIf you enjoy puzzles and technical variety you'll find this job very enjoyable.\n\nWho are we looking for?\n\n\n* You do not need to have information security experience. If you've got the right technical background and problem solving skills we can train you in the dark arts of infosec.\n\n* People who enjoy writing code, solving problems with code, and learning how computers work at a fundamental level.\n\n* This is not a "travel every week" type of consultant. We do sometimes work at a client site but most of the time we do our projects remotely.\n\n\n\n\nWe’re hiring for all experience levels: from zero career experience to information security veterans.\n\nSkills & Requirements\n\n\n* Deep experience in software and computers. You may have earned this experience with a degree, career as a software developer, or perhaps you've invested in a technical hobby that took you deep into the rabbit hole.\n\n* Technical writing skills (English)\n\n* Resident of the USA and able to be employed in the USA.\n\n\n\n\nWe encourage remote candidates to reply *if* they are residents of the USA.

\nAt Elastic, we have a simple goal: to solve the world's data problems with products that delight and inspire. As the company behind the popular open source projects — Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, and Beats — we help people around the world do great things with their data. From stock quotes to Twitter streams, Apache logs to WordPress blogs, our products are extending what's possible with data, delivering on the promise that good things come from connecting the dots. Diversity drives our vibe. We unite  Elasticians across 30+ countries into one coherent team, while the broader community spans across over 100 countries.\n\nAbout The Role\n\nYou will provide senior technical and architectural leadership for Elastic’s Cloud team. In this role, you’ll analyze current system and architecture strengths and limitations, and provide technical thought leadership for improving our products and platform.  You’ll take the lead in analyzing industry trends, and advocating for architectural and technology changes to take advantage of new technologies. Typical candidates for this role would have spent the last 5+ years in a technical leadership role for a large aaS product.\n\n\nEngineering Philosophy\n\nEngineering a highly complex distributed system that is easy to operate via elegantly designed APIs is a non-trivial effort. It requires solid software development skills, and more importantly, a sharp mind and the ability to think like a user. We also care deeply about giving you full ownership of what you’re working on. Our company fundamentally believes great minds achieve greatness when they are set free and are surrounded and challenged by their peers, which is clearly visible in our organization. At Elastic, we effectively don’t have a hierarchy to speak of. We feel that anyone needs to be in the position to comment on truly anything, regardless of his or her role within the company.\n\n\nSome of the things you'll work on\n\n\n* Study the current technology landscape and provide recommendations for new technologies we should be using to improve our products.\n\n* Identify current areas of needed improvement in our product architecture and design methodologies.\n\n* Bring a pragmatic approach to our current technology stack, with an eye toward improving maintainability, testability, and reliability of our product offerings.  Lead the effort to implement changes based on your analysis.\n\n* Think holistically about our efforts towards how we measure and monitor our product success.  This includes things like: What are our baseline performance characteristics? How do we measure changes in performance behavior each time we release?  What are our key areas that contribute to production issues? How do we identify and address them?\n\n* Lead technical discussions and requirements analysis with partners and customers to drive alignment with customer needs.\n\n* Work with Product Management, Marketing, and other groups inside Elastic to drive alignment with our strategic product goals.\n\n* Represent Elastic at conferences, trade shows, and in customer partnerships.\n\n* Work with development teams across Elastic to facilitate understanding of how they work on Cloud\n\n* Evaluate upcoming Stack features and work with the development teams to promote operability on Cloud.\n\n\n\n\n What you will bring along\n\n\n* Previous experience as a Principal or Distinguished Engineer for a SaaS based product.\n\n* Experience designing and delivering an Enterprise level product.\n\n* Strong understanding of distributed systems.\n\n* Experience working with Cloud hosting providers and physical data centers.\n\n* Demonstrated thought leadership for a large software product.  \n\n* Experience as an evangelist for a software company or product.\n\n* Experience doing technology landscape analysis which results in actionable recommendations.\n\n* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a great teammate with strong analytical, problem solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills\n\n\n\n\nNice to have\n\n\n* Experience as CTO or Chief Architect for a Cloud based product.\n\n* Experience using or managing the Elastic Stack and Kibana\n\n* Record of inheriting and improving existing medium-to-large scale projects\n\n* Open source experience.\n\n\n\n\n Additional Information\n\nWe're looking to hire team members invested in realizing the goal of making real-time data exploration easy and available to anyone. As a distributed company, we believe that diversity drives our vibe! Whether you're looking to launch a new career or grow an existing one, Elastic is the type of company where you can balance great work with great life.\n\n\n* Competitive pay based on the work you do here and not your previous salary\n\n* Equity\n\n* Global minimum of 16 weeks of paid parental leave (moms & dads)\n\n* Generous vacation time and one week of volunteer time off\n\n* Your age is only a number. It doesn't matter if you're just out of college or your children are; we need you for what you can do.\n\n\n\n\nElastic is an Equal Employment employer committed to the principles of equal employment opportunity and affirmative action for all applicants and employees. Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender perception or identity, national origin, age, marital status, protected veteran status, or disability status or any other basis protected by federal, state or local law, ordinance or regulation. This job post is closed and the position is probably filled. Please do not apply.
\nmySociety is looking for an experienced developer with Ruby skills to work on our Democratic Commons project: a concept of open and shared democratic data where anyone can contribute, and anyone can benefit. Were creating the core infrastructure, tools and data that will kickstart the Democratic Commons because we believe that the data that allow people to hold their own governments to account should be freely available to all.\nThis is a fast-moving project with an ambitious timeline for the next year, so were looking for someone who can hit the ground running and will thrive in a dynamic environment. Well be working with a varied range of partners around the world; from volunteers and small NGOs to deep established engagements with Wikidata and Facebook.\nTo be a good fit, you will be comfortable working with partners both big and small, listening to their needs and helping to translate those into plans, tickets and concrete features that you can implement. Youll come with the ability to discuss and explain technical concepts to non-expert stakeholders and will enjoy working on a variety of different kinds of problems, while thinking about the bigger picture.\n\n \nNo recruiters or agencies, please.\n \nKey responsibilities \nYou will be:\n * Working within a small but growing development team to design, build and maintain a large-scale distributed architecture for sourcing and updating basic political information and making it freely available \n * Developing the infrastructure that will allow the team to deliver datasets for countries at an escalating pace through the first year of the project\n * Creating scrapers and tools that enable partners around the world to populate and correct data\n * Communicating with partners to iterate and improve the tools and ensure they are fit for purpose for different levels of capability\n * Contributing to a team culture of agile innovation focused on creative and responsive solutions to the challenges of a project with a growing scale\n \n\n\nAbout mySociety\nSince 2003 mySociety have built and grown a series of democratic and civic websites and apps, including FixMyStreet.com, WhatDoTheyKnow.com, WriteToThem.com and TheyWorkForYou.com which are used by more than 10 million people each year. Whilst we continue to run our sites in the UK, we also help groups in over 40 other countries to establish and make a success of their own, similar sites.\nOur charitable work is made possible by major grants from funders such as the Omidyar Network, the Hewlett Foundation, and Google, who support our desire to share software, knowledge and good practice for the benefit of the global Civic Technology community. We work across three thematic areas, developing online services in Freedom of Information, Democracy and Better Cities.\nOur growing research team aims to establish how, whether and when Civic Technology can make a difference, and share these learnings widely with civil society and governments. Our project management style aims to minimise pain and distraction, and leave people to get on with doing great work, normally in small teams.\nOur commercial subsidiary mySociety Ltd delivers off-the-shelf services for local authority and other clients in the UK and abroad, along with commercial access to our data services and custom development work and consultancy. Its profits are reinvested into the work of the charity. \n\n \nDeadlines and dates\nThe application deadline is 10am GMT on Friday 15th December and interviews will take place the first week of January 2018. We will aim to notify applicants of whether or not they will be invited to interview by Friday 22nd December. \nApplication instructions\nYour application should consist of a CV and covering statement.\nUse your covering letter to show us why your skills make you a good fit for this role. Were also going to want to see some samples of work that best represent you, so if you have examples online, let us know where to find them. \n\nBenefits\n\nSalary is in the range of £43,000 to £52,000 depending on experience, plus pension (3% employer contribution, 5% employee). This is a one year fixed-term contract. \nWe expect you to be based in the UK and you need to have the right to work in this country (sorry, but we cant offer help with visas or relocation expenses). \nmySociety is an adaptable, understanding employer and we have some great benefits including 25 days off per year (plus bank holidays), a new laptop, flexible working patterns, a yearly annual retreat and regular company meetups in cities up and down the country. Read more at www.mysociety.org/careers. \nWe welcome people who are committed to making a difference, but we take work life balance very seriously and we celebrate the idea of quality, not quantity of working hours: if you work more than your contracted hours then we insist on time off in lieu to compensate. \nMost of our staff work remotely whilst still seeing each other face to face as often as we can. We work from home, co-working spaces, or small offices. We have small clusters of people around Bristol and London and would particularly like to hear from people based near those cities, but will accept applicants from anywhere in the United Kingdom. We ask that you are willing to travel to other parts of the country to see colleagues and clients perhaps a dozen times a year. You can read more about what its like working at mySociety at https://www.mysociety.org/about/careers/culture/.

We work in small teams (1-3 developers, 1 QA, 1 designer on each task)\n\n* You will have a healthy live-work balance. There are guys who joined our team in 2006 and have created numerous new products because the team is strong and the work is always interesting\n\n\n\n\n3. Our goal is to teach people how to compose great music\n\nAbout a month ago, we launched our new product called Odesi. Magazine press and our fans loved it, so we have a wish list of 300 feature requests and ideas on what to build next. That is why we're hiring -- we have a lot of interesting work\n\nHere's the YouTube video showing what we created using Canvas, TypeScript, AngularJS and the general .NET stack:\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zh6icr_WZI

\nWho are we looking for?\n\nWe are looking for a proactive self-starters with a flair for innovation and a passion for doing a job right. Our software team is expanding to cope with the influx of new business and we need to add new people to help us succeed. A good background in digital TV is an advantage, as is an understanding of the constraints of embedded programming and hands on development in a Linux environment. \n\nOur working environment\n\nWe promote a quiet no frills, working environment where software engineers can focus on the task of writing code. It’s an open office environment so discussions can be quickly done letting you get back to what you're best at, writing code. We’re a small company so we look for people that can be self sufficient on the tasks, even to the point of doing you own IT support, though help is on hand if you need it. We work on Linux desktop and laptop machines mainly running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. You’ll mainly be developing in a x86 based simulated set top box  environment for code that will be run on a target embedded system so you need to be familiar with both and understand the constraints that places on your code. You will also be expected to move your code to the embedded product giving you the chance to see how it performs in the real world of target hardware. We have a continuous integration system based on GIT, Gerrit and Jenkins and integrate it with our Redmine system that we use for issue tracking and as an Agile tracking board. We use quality metrics like Valgrind, CppCheck, and Google unit test frameworks to automatically check the quality of checkins and functional tests with Cpplint to constantly check the quality of tip. You're expected to take ownership of your assignments and to  produce high quality code that you're proud of and that you can document using Doxygen so  that you can maintain it and have others take on maintenance in the future. In short we focus on helping you write the best code you can and not attending dozens of meetings or writing lengthy reports.

I'm looking for fellow Futurist thinkers who are also prepared to take over responsiblity for \nthe NWO society soon to be implemented...\nI myself already declared I had self elvolved, just by way of my thought process, So Now, we're officially into the "race of the future" ...\nBeyond skin color, just another shade of grey...the 50 shade of grey...Solidarity...\n"We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately." -Ben Franklin\nSo,\n"Enlightened" means that You are aware of "artificial collective conscious/man-made telepathy"... -I'm using this artificial collective conscious (Internet) to essentially Send this "thought" directly into your head... There is a process(me typing-my computer-my web browser-angel-my profile-this job post- to your side, through angel-ect.- evenually to your eyes where your interpretation of my original thought arrives...) But, That process matters not, It's really us who need to recognize that it is accomplished...Tesla's World Wireless- read article... http://www.tfcbooks.com/tesla/1908-00-00.htm,\nNext, it's God?... Yep, because that mystic/spiritual thinking doesn't matter anymore...we Do have this "real" collective conscious/intellect, It's this second brain that we all can become One Mind with, yet it is also separate from us... It's the cold hard proof any atheist would need as to what God is... The internet becoming "god" \nThe 'sovereign" part has to do with the sovereign citizen thought... If we, instead of complaining about what the NSA is doing... become enlightened about what we have here... It's the culmination of Nikola Tesla's thought, when his wireless system is applied correctly it would be like turning the earth into a huge brain, capable of response in all it's parts.... so No more need for Representational government... What I'm looking for is people willing to start a society from scratch.... No more money...Similar to the venus project... But Nikola Tesla's version, starting in 2015, the future... \n\n#Salary\n$609,000\n \n\n#Equity\n88.0 - 88.0\n\n\n#Location\nBarstow
