StreamYard is hiring a Remote Staff Software Engineer
\nWho are we?? ๐ฆ\n\nLive streaming is a great medium for storytelling โ and telling great stories benefits everyone. Whether youโre a creator, content marketer, entrepreneur, or just someone with something to say, live streaming is an exciting and effective way to spread your message. But live streaming tools are very complicated. You shouldnโt need to spend thousands of dollars on a computer or learn about encoding, just to start live streaming. The world misses out on so many great creators because of these barriers. Dan and Geige thought there should be a streaming tool that anyone could use โ a tool that was fun instead of stressful โ a tool that was simple, but powerful enough to create engaging content. We wanted people who werenโt techy, or who simply didnโt want to deal with the hassle of streaming, to still go live, share their stories, and grow their own communities.\n\nGeige and Dan built StreamYard with three things in mind and continue to focus on these pillars today. The three StreamYard pillars include\n\n* ease of use\n\n* stability, and\n\n* professional streams\n\n\n\nStreamYard is built on those pillars. Our users tell us that StreamYard makes streaming fun โ you can quickly create engaging content with guests, show on screen comments/lower thirds, and brand your broadcasts with themes, overlays, and backgrounds. You donโt need to know anything about technology or streaming to get started. And even though StreamYard is simple, techy folks love how powerful it is under the hood, and how effective it is for streaming group discussions.\n\nWe love StreamYard and its community. We work tirelessly to improve our tool and create the best experience possible.\n\nThe Team\n\nThe StreamYard Destinations team develops the core platform integration experience that StreamYard users interact with daily. You'll be working with a team that delivers a seamless and robust experience to allow users to connect all their different platforms and go live with just a few clicks to them all!\n\nAbout You\n\n\n* Profound backend experience: You have extensive experience in backend development, with a strong understanding of server-side technologies, database management, and API design. You are adept at architecting scalable, high-performance systems that can handle the demands of live streaming.\n\n* Frontend proficiency focusing on React.js: While your primary strength lies in backend development, you are also proficient in building web applications using React.js. You have a solid grasp of front-end development processes and are comfortable working within a React.js environment.\n\n* Proficient in Typescript: You have a solid foundational knowledge of Typescript and have a deep understanding of modern coding best practices. Your experience includes leading the implementation of these practices to enhance user experience and code maintainability.\n\n* Architectural leadership: You have a proven track record of architecting robust systems and software solutions. Your attention to detail is unmatched, and you are known for your ability to raise the bar for technical excellence within your team.\n\n* Ownership and initiative: You are a self-starter with an extraordinary ability to take ownership of projects, driving them from conception to completion within tight deadlines. Your proactive approach ensures consistent high-quality standards.\n\n* Collaborative and communicative: Your outstanding communication skills make you excel in both real-time and asynchronous collaboration. You are comfortable working in a remote, fast-paced environment and can effectively articulate technical concepts to non-technical team members.\n\n* Problem-solving prowess: You enjoy tackling complex problems and are often the go-to person for finding solutions to challenging technical issues. Your debugging skills are top-notch, enabling you to quickly identify and resolve issues.\n\n* Experience in fast-paced environments: You have a history of shipping innovative features in startup or fast-paced settings, demonstrating your ability to adapt and thrive in dynamic environments.\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

We are a team of programmers working to develop world-class open source products and libraries implementing open global standards in identity. \nThere are no well-worn paths or theoreticals here. Our software is secure by design, professionally audited, and suitable for high stakes applications. While we don't require you to have Rust experience to apply for this job, you should demonstrate a strong aptitude for statically typed languages, memory management, and secure programming practices. \nResponsibilities\n\n* Contribute to new and existing Rust codebases, with a focus on high code quality (e.g., tasteful use of traits, code/memory footprint reduction, minimizing dependency trees, refactoring between enums/structs, using macros to reduce copy-paste errors, etc.). \n\n* Utilize best practices for unit tests, integration tests, benchmarking, documentation, version control hygiene, and open source release cycle management.\n\n* Implement low-level systems code that is cross-compiled and performantly ran across platforms, including backend servers, mobile devices, and in the browser through WASM.\n\n* With support and review from cryptographers, use cryptographic APIs to implement digital signatures, message authentication, encryption/decryption, data structures, and zero-knowledge proof protocols for production applications. For this role, you are not expected to know the math, but you will be responsible for correct low-level implementations, "blocking and tackling" such as zeroing memory, preventing timing attacks, writing test vectors, and configuring fuzzers.\n\n* Interface directly with security auditing firms who have experience evaluating implementations that rely on applied cryptography.\n\n\nQualifications\n\n* Excellent written communications skills (necessary for remote work).\n\n* Experience writing widely-distributed backend software in statically-typed languages.\n\n* Aptitude for computer security, correct use of cryptography, and user data privacy.\n\n* Proficiency in backend web frameworks, API design, databases, and scalability.\n\n* Experience setting up or configuring CI/CD pipelines based on containers and cloud services.\n\n* Comfortable with rapid directional changes of focus in a startup environment.\n\n\nBonus\n\n* Experience building distributed storage systems at scale.\n\n* Proficiency with functional programming paradigms and use of advanced type systems found in languages such as Rust, C++, OCaml, or Haskell.\n\n* Contributions to open source software projects and technology standards.\n\n* Full-time experience with working remotely.\n\n* Familiarity with operating system internals, compiler internals, memory management, and low level programming.\n\n* Professional experience in a high stakes industry such as cloud infrastructure, finance, healthcare, social media, or online gaming.\n\n\nWe are passionate about cultivating a thriving culture of diverse individuals who bring unique perspectives to our mission. Obol is hiring a Remote Senior Frontend Engineer DApp Development
\nWho Are We?\n\n\nObol Labs is a remote-first research and software development team focused on Proof of Stake infrastructure for public blockchain networks. Specific topics of focus are Internet Bonds, Distributed Validator Technology, and Multi-Operator Validation. The core team includes 35 members spread across +14 countries.\n\n\nThe core team is building the Obol Network, a protocol to foster trust-minimized staking through multi-operator validation. This will enable low-trust access to Ethereum staking yield, which can be used as a core building block in various Web3 products.\n\n\nThe Network\n\n\nThe network can be best visualized as a work layer that sits directly on top of the base layer consensus. This work layer is designed to provide the base layer with more resiliency and decentralization as it scales. In this chapter of Ethereum, we will move on to the next great scaling challenge, which is stake centralization. Layers like Obol are critical to the long-term viability and resiliency of public networks, especially networks like Ethereum.\n\n\nObol as a layer is focused on scaling main chain staking by providing permissionless access to Distributed Validators. The network utilizes a middleware implementation of Distributed Validator Technology (DVT), to enable the operation of distributed validator clusters that can preserve validators' current client and remote signing configurations.\n\n\nSimilar to how roll-up technology laid the foundation for L2 scaling implementations, we believe DVT will do the same for scaling the consensus layer while preserving decentralization. Staking infrastructure is entering its protocol phase of evolution, which must include trust-minimized staking networks that can be plugged into at scale. We believe DVT will evolve into a widely used primitive and will ensure the security, resiliency, and decentralization of public networks.\n\n\nThe Obol Network develops and maintains three core public goods that will eventually work together through circular economics:\n\n\nThe DV Launchpad, a User Interface for bootstrapping and managing Distributed Validators\n\n\nCharon, a Golang based middleware client that enables validators to run in a fault-tolerant, distributed manner.\n\n\nObol Splits, a set of solidity contracts for the formation of Distributed Validators tailored to different use cases such as DeFi, Liquid Staking, and Fractionalized Deposits \n\n\n\n\nSustainable Public Goods\n\n\nObol is inspired by previous work on Ethereum public goods and experimenting with circular economics. We believe that to unlock innovation in staking use cases, a credibly neutral layer must exist for innovation to flow and evolve vertically. Without this layer, highly available uptime will continue to be a moat.\n\n\nThe Obol Network will become an open, community-governed, self-sustaining project over the coming months and years. Together we will incentivize, build, and maintain distributed validator technology that makes public networks a more secure and resilient foundation to build on top of.\n\n\nThe Role \n\n\nThe focus of this role is on developing and enhancing React-based web applications for interacting with the Ethereum blockchain to create Distributed Validators. This includes creating user-friendly interfaces, integrating with wallets, and ensuring the applications are absolutely secure and reliable.\n\n\nThe goal of this role is to enable the proliferation of Distributed Validators in the Ethereum Staking Ecosystem, by making them easy to create, view, understand, and interact with. This role requires working with agency and autonomy. It requires collaboration with cross-functional internal teams as well as dealing with external stakeholders. Obolโs Distributed Validator Launchpad, Obolโs static website, Obolโs typescript packages, and other applications will be under this roleโs remit. \n\n\n\nResponsibilities\n* Develop and implement new features for our web applications using React, showcasing your expertise in creating user-centric solutions.\n* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product owners, designers, and QA engineers, to ensure seamless delivery of high-quality products.\n* Contribute to Obolโs coding standards, design patterns, and development methodologies.\n* Drive innovation by researching and adopting the latest trends and technologies in the React ecosystem, ensuring our applications remain secure, competitive, and cutting-edge.\n* Act as a technical mentor for junior developers, providing guidance and support to help them grow and excel in their roles.\n* Collaborate with external partners integrating Obol technology into their dapps using the Obol SDK.\n* Take responsibility for maintaining and enhancing our current products, including our component library (obol-ui) and DApp (dv-launchpad).\n* Improve the accessibility of our interfaces to all types of internet users.\n* Harden the security of our React software and its supply chain. \n\n\n\nRequirements\n* Professional experience in React-based Ethereum Application Development (examples below).\n* What we use for React Development: Typescript, Next.js, React Hook Form, SWR, Zustand, @headlessui/react, stitches.dev, tailwindCSS and others. \n* What we use for Ethereum Development: Foundry, Hardhat, Ethers.js, web3-react, @obolnetwork/obol-sdk, @metamask/eth-sig-util, @0xsplits/splits-sdk(-react), @gnosis.pm/safe-core-sdk, @synthetixio/synpress, @chainsafe/(bls/discv5/ssz) and others. \n* Previous delivery of react websites that enable non-custodial, wallet-based interaction with mainnet Ethereum or a similar EVM network with more than $100k in value handled. \n* Knowledge of JS/TS security and testing best practices.\n* Knowledge of JS/TS CI/CD best practices.\n* Experience working with Agile Software Development methodologies.\n* Web3 professional experience.\n* Proven ability to maintain and contribute to Open Source repos \n* Timezone between UTC-2 to UTC+3 \n\n\n\nNice to have\n* Ethereum staking experience.\n* Node.js or other backend development experience.\n* Solidity development experience.\n* Familiarity with docker and/or running servers.\n* SQL/NoSQL experience.\n* Experience working in a distributed remote team.\n\n\n\nBenefits\n* Fully Remote Working and flexible hours.\n* Meet the team at our Annual Offsites.\n* Chance to attend crypto and staking conferences.\n* Working with the purpose of decentralising Ethereum.\n* Generous paid time off.\n* Budget for equipment.\n* Budget for training or education.\n\n\n\n\n\nThank you for your interest.
