## What We Do\n\nOverleaf is a startup and social enterprise that builds modern collaborative authoring tools for scientists — like Google Docs for Science. We have over six million registered users from around the world. Our primary product is an online, real-time collaborative editor for papers, theses, technical reports and other documents written in the LaTeX markup language.\n\n## Who We Are\n\nOverleaf was founded by two mathematicians who were inspired by their own experiences in academia to create a better solution for scientific collaboration and communication. Now we are a team of about forty with fifteen developers, based mainly in and around the UK and in the US. We were recently recognised as one of the [UK's top 100 fastest growing businesses](https://www.overleaf.com/blog/overleaf-recognized-as-one-of-the-uks-top-100-fastest-growing-businesses) and as the [Best SaaS for Nonprofits or Education](https://www.overleaf.com/blog/overleaf-named-2020-saas-awards-winner) in the 2020 SaaS Awards Program.\n\n## Our Tech\n\nOverleaf is based on open source software, and most of our product code is itself open source. You can find it on GitHub: https://github.com/overleaf/overleaf (note: most activity is in the repos linked from there).\n\nWe run a mainly Node.js back end using MongoDB, PostgreSQL and Redis. We use a microservices architecture, with about a dozen services. On the front end, we mainly use Angular v1 and are incrementally migrating to React.\n\nWe're hosted on Google Cloud Platform using Google Kubernetes Engine. We use Docker to manage our development environments. We support continuous delivery and typically deploy at least a few times a day (less on Fridays).\n\n## How We Work\n\nOverleaf is remote-first --- all founders and staff work remotely. We also have an office in Farringdon for those in the London area, and when the pandemic settles down we'll again get the whole team together in London a few times a year for face-to-face time.\n\nWe encourage flexible working. Our core hours are 2pm–5pm UK time, during which our development teams have 10–15 minute daily standup calls. We have few standing meetings for developers, but we do many smaller video or voice calls for pairing or within teams.\n\nWe always collect user feedback to inform our work. We have UX professionals on our team, and we run many surveys and user interviews.\n\nWe organize our work with Kanban. We use GitHub pull requests for each feature with code review to share knowledge and best practices (and catch bugs). We test thoroughly with automated unit and acceptance tests, supported by continuous integration (CI). We're also fans of linting to minimise bike-shedding (and to catch bugs).\n\n## About This Role\n\nWe plan to add two developers to our team, both with a backend focus. Experience with some of Node.js, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis or Kubernetes is desirable. We are also particularly interested in meeting you if:\n\n- you'd be interested in taking up a team lead role in the not too distant future, or\n- you have experience with setting up data pipelines for web analytics and/or business intelligence.\n\nKey projects on our road map this year include:\n\n- Improve our B2C conversion metrics and monitoring — we'll be setting up a new web analytics system to generate insights we need while continuing to respect user privacy\n- Consolidate our two project history systems — we currently have two from our integration with ShareLaTeX in 2017, each with hundreds of TB to be consolidated\n- Make our project PDF preview faster and less bandwidth hungry — we have prototypes showing big wins that now need productionizing\n\nHere are some examples of projects (large and small) we've recently completed:\n\n- https://www.overleaf.com/blog/new-feature-file-outline-is-now-available-on-overleaf\n- https://www.overleaf.com/blog/new-feature-transfer-project-ownership-on-overleaf\n- https://www.overleaf.com/blog/523-a-data-driven-approach-to-latex-autocomplete\n\nIn the longer term, we are planning projects around improved collaboration features for teams, improvements to our rich text mode, and more.\n\n## How We Hire\n\nThe stages in our hiring process are typically:\n\n1. We will aim to update you on the status of your application within 14 days from when we receive it.\n\n2. We'll follow up by email (or sometimes schedule a phone call) with any questions we have about your application, usually around logistics, your ambitions and your expectations about the role.\n\n3. We'll schedule a more in-depth interview, which is typically two hours long. The first hour is discussion, and the second hour is technical. For the technical, you'll have the option of either completing a homework assignment, which requires about one hour of your time before the interview, or solving a problem in the interview, if you prefer. The problems are practical in nature (no fizz-buzz or reversing linked lists), and you can use Google, man pages, etc., and ask us questions.\n\n4. We'll make an offer. We usually interview in batches, so there may be a short delay while we interview other candidates, but we will try to keep you informed throughout the process.\n\nIf you have a deadline, please let us know in your application, and we will try to be accommodating.\n\n## Requirements\n\nWe require that you:\n\n- have a minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience (we aren't taking on more new graduates at the moment).\n- will work for us full time (or nearly full time).\n- will usually be available in our core hours, 2pm–5pm UK time.\n\nApplicants in the UK, Europe, US and Canada are preferred.\n\nExperience with the technologies we use is always a plus, but you don't need to know them all; your ability to learn is much more important to us.\n\n## Benefits\n\n- Remote and flexible working.\n- Salary £40k–£75k per year depending on experience.\n- You would join a small, dedicated and growing team.\n- We're substantially (around 80%) open source, so your work will often be on open source code.\n- We're backed by Bethnal Green Ventures (https://bethnalgreenventures.com/) and Digital Science (https://www.digital-science.com/), through which we're part of a wider community of startups in science, health and ed-tech.\n- Our London office is shared with several other Digital Science companies, so there's lots of interesting people to meet, and clubs and sports activities outside of work.\n- We get everyone together in London for team meetings several times a year for valuable face-to-face time (pandemic permitting).\n- You can pick your own equipment. MacBook Pro? Lenovo ThinkPad? Notebook and pen? However you like to work, we'll provide what you need.\n- We provide a training budget; many of our developers choose to attend relevant industry conferences or buy training materials.\n- We run quarterly [remote hackathons](https://www.overleaf.com/blog/overleafs-remote-hackathon-revisited-one-year) to keep learning and experimenting.\n- We run a weekly internal seminar series with short talks from staff about their work or personal projects, new technologies and techniques.\n\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. \n\n#Salary\n$55,000 — $105,000\n\n\n#Location\nUS, Canada, UK, Europe

**Position Overview**\nClarity, a Series A clean-tech startup, is looking for an experienced backend software engineer to join our software team in our mission of bringing clear air to the world. He or she will drive the technical evolution of our IoT sensor data pipeline and support our customer-facing web applications and data analysis tools. Clarity is a globally distributed organization with headquarters in Oakland, CA.\n\n**Our Company**\nAt Clarity, we strive to empower the world to reduce air pollution. We do that by making it accessible for cities and industries to measure and understand their air pollution issues and take effective action.\n\nToday, when cities and industrial facilities want to measure air quality at a site they have to purchase expensive monitoring equipment and invest even more to install it in container-sized shelters and integrate its measurements into their IT system. This is unacceptable because it leads to the inability to monitor air pollution at important sites and ultimately to the inability to manage air pollution.\n\nWe envision a world where novel sensing technology, IoT and cloud computing simplify air quality measurement, enabling cities and industrial facilities to scale up the number of monitoring sites and take data-driven action. Our Sensing-as-a-Service solution for air quality is currently deployed in over 70 cities across 30+ countries and is changing how municipalities and industrial facilities monitor their air quality.\n\nAfter successfully raising our Series A (a few words from our investors here and here), we are excited to keep building on our current success elevating our product to the next level, at the forefront of the clean air movement. This is especially true of our software products, where we see a significant opportunity to increase the value we provide to our customers as well as to expand the number of use cases supported by our Sensing-as-a-Service solution.\n\n**Our Team**\nWe are a diverse group of engineers, scientists, and makers from all around the world who are passionate about what we do and devoted to our mission to improve the world by solving some of its greatest challenges. We believe in solving challenging problems by adopting a growth mindset, by fostering an environment that encourages deep collaboration, empathy, and creativity, and by keeping a good sense of humor. We enjoy philosophical debates as much as nerding out about the soldering talents of our HW engineers or the cool data visualizations we create. Although we always have our mission in mind, we know the path for any startup has ups and downs and we’re more than happy to face them together as a team. How else could you tackle a problem as complex and global as air pollution?\n\n**Job Description**\nWe are seeking a highly self-motivated and passionate backend developer with a proven track record in delivering top-quality code and architectural solutions to bring our Clarity Cloud to the next level. Your key responsibilities will be:\n* Leading development and maintenance of key system features, including APIs, workers, and databases.\n* Interfacing with product management to brainstorm technical solutions to business requirements and evaluate technical feasibility of innovative product features.\n* Working with other team members to investigate architecture best practices, design approaches and prototype new technology.\n* Collaborating in an Agile environment to deliver high quality software against well established schedules.\n\nOur product is multidisciplinary, ranging from ubiquitous IoT hardware to scalable data pipelines, advanced data quality assurance algorithms and insightful data analyses. You will enjoy freedom of action around these topics and be encouraged to take initiative for making our software offerings truly revolutionary in the clean-tech space. You will have plenty of opportunity to work closely with our customers and end-users who hail from industry, government, NGOs, community groups, and academia. You will be working closely with our CTO to help guide Clarity to success. We believe Clarity could be the right place for you to join the fight to solve environmental issues around the world by leveraging your software superpowers!\n\n**Qualifications**\n* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar technical field.\n* 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.\n* 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems at scale.\n* 2+ years experience building successful production software systems.\n* Solid understanding and high proficiency in Python, Node.js, MongoDB, REST, GraphQL, and OOD patterns.\n* Experience with AWS Cloud, especially EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, S3, SNS, SQS, SES, Cognito and DynamoDB.\n* Experience with full-stack development frameworks, such as Amplify, Django, etc.\n* Experience with DevOps on software systems at large scale.\n* Experience applying Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures and algorithms design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.\n* Experience defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility tradeoffs.\n* Experience working in an Agile environment.\n* Experience in mentoring team members and defining and championing best practices across a software team.\n* Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.**\n \n\n#Salary\n$100,000 — $150,000\n\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

Analytics products with the same dry metrics are all too common. Our mission is to provide a marketing analytics platform that intuitively opens up new insights that you would only otherwise get from a team of data scientists.\n\nWe’re based out of Toronto, Canada, but you’re free to live anywhere in North America. There are 15 of us and we’re a pretty fun crew. We’re proud and excited about the work we’re doing. We can’t wait to meet you, share our passion, and bring you aboard!\n\n# The Job Overview:\nWe are looking for someone ASAP! You will play an instrumental role in reshaping the way in which businesses and marketers think about web analytics. We are expecting rapid growth over the next 6 to 12 months and need you to build out your driven and qualified development team to 8 members by early 2021.\n\nWe need a ‘Hands-on Developer’ who has no problem jumping in and learning the system. \n\n# Day to Day:\n\n**Setting up processes**\n* Driving Agile development methodology\n* Working within JIRA\n* Building integrations with multiple marketing platforms\n* Work closely with the Product Team for improvements\n* Development with Node and Redshift\n* Interviewing and hiring decisions on which highly-qualified engineers to bring on board\n\n**Responsibilities and Projects:\n**\n* Expand an engineering team focused on building the future of analytics.\n* Coach a team of engineers to remove roadblocks and implement features to the best of their abilities.\n* Implement processes to keep the engineering team performing at their peak.\n* Take the lead in new initiatives to increase security, monitoring, and testing.\n* Create and enforce timelines for development projects.\n* Construct an execution plan to reach goals set out in our technical vision.\n* Keep stakeholders informed on the progress of projects and the status of engineering.\n* Create strategies to reduce technical debt while continuing to deliver value to customers.\n* Create KPIs to maintain accountability.\n**Remember this role is 100% Remote in North America!\n**\n# An Ideal Candidate Looks Like:\n* Experience with Node, Redshift, Snowflake, Vertica, Clickhouse or any other column-oriented database (customer-facing analytics)\n* Experience leading development teams. If you have had past experience of growing out a small dev team one to two times, that’s great!\n* Experience in building out analytics products.\n* Strong communicator, both written and verbally.\n* No egos or micro-management. We want someone who just wants to build out the best software and take pride in their work.\n* It’s preferable if you’ve worked in small companies, but we’re open to backgrounds in large companies as well.\n\n# Tech Stack:\n**Essentials:\n**\n* Node\n* Redshift, Snowflake, Vertica, Clickhouse or any other column-oriented database (customer-facing analytics)\n\n**Nice to haves:\n**\n* Postgres\n* Mongo\n* Redis\n* Ember\nThis is a more backend focused role but frontend experience is helpful.\n\n# What else?\nCultural competency is important to us. Our company provides a culture where our team members can evolve professionally and personally while taking a sense of pride and ownership in everything they do.\n\n**So, what do you think? InReach is changing how VC in Europe works, for good. Through data, software and Machine Learning, we are building an in-house platform to help us find, reach-out to and invest in early-stage European startups, regardless of the city or country they’re based in.\n\nWe are looking for a back-end developer to continue the development of InReach’s data services. This involves: \n* Cleaning / wrangling / merging / processing the data on companies and founders from across Europe\n* Building data pipelines with the Machine Learning engineers\n* Building APIs to support front-end investment product used by the Investment team (named DIG)\n\nThis role will involve working across the stack. From DevOps (Terraform) to web scraping and Machine Learning (Python) all the way to data pipelines and web-services (Java) and getting stuck into the front-end (Javascript). It’s a great opportunity to hone your skills and master some new ones.\n\nIt is important to us that candidates be passionate about helping entrepreneurs and startups. This is our bread-and-butter and we want you to be involved.\n\nInReach is a remote-first employer and we are looking to this hire to help us become an exceptional place to work for remote employees. Whether you are in the office or remote, we are looking for people with excellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\n### Background Reading:\n* [InReach Ventures, the 'AI-powered' European VC, closes new €53M fund](https://techcrunch.com/2019/02/11/inreach-ventures-the-ai-powered-european-vc-closes-new-e53m-fund/?guccounter=1)\n* [The Full-Stack Venture Capital](https://medium.com/entrepreneurship-at-work/the-full-stack-venture-capital-8a5cffe4d71)\n* [Roberto Bonanzinga starts InReach Ventures with DIG platform](https://www.businessinsider.com/roberto-bonanzinga-starts-inreach-ventures-with-dig-platform-2015-11?r=US&IR=T)\n* [Exceptional Communication Guidelines](https://www.craft.do/s/Isrjt4KaHMPQ)\n\n## Responsibilities\n\n* Creatively and quickly coming up with effective solutions to undefined problems\n* Choosing technology that is modern but not hype-driven\n* Developing features and tests quickly with good, clean code\n* Being part of the wider development team, reviewing code and participating in architecture from across the stack\n* Communicating exceptionally, both asynchronously (written) and synchronously (spoken)\n* Helping to shape InReach as a remote-first organization\n\n## Technologies\n\nGiven that this position touches so much of the stack, it will be difficult for a candidate that only has experience in Python or only in Java to be successful in being effective quickly. While we expect the candidate to be stronger in one or the other, some professional exposure is required.\n\nIn addition to the programming skills and the ability to write well designed and tested code, infrastructure within modern cloud platforms and sound architectural reasoning are expected.\n\nNone of these are a prerequisite, but help:\n* Functional Programming\n* Reactive Streams (RxJava2)\n* Terraform\n* Postgres\n* ElasticSearch\n* SQS\n* Dynamodb\n* AWS Lambda\n* Docker\n* Dropwizard\n* Maven\n* Pipenv\n* Javascript\n* React\n* NodeJS\n\n## Interview Process\n* 15m video chat with Ben, CTO to find out more about InReach and the role\n* 2h data pipeline technical test (Python)\n* 2h web service technical test (Java)\n* 30m architectural discussion with Ben, talking through the work you did\n* 2h interview with the different team members from across InReach. We’re a small company so it’s important we see how we’ll all work together - not just the tech team!\n \n\n#Salary\n$55,000 — $70,000\n\n\n#Location\nUK or Italy

### Talented back-end developer\nWe're looking for an experienced back-end developer to help take the lead on new projects. We use Django, Postgres and Heroku on most projects but we care more about your talent and willingness to learn than experience with a particular framework.\n\n### Willingness to help out with frontend\nBecause we're a small team working on a wide variety of projects, you’ll have to be comfortable jumping around and learning new skills. You don't have to be a full stack developer, but you do need to be willing to step in and help out on the front-end. We typically work with Vue, React and React Native on the front-end.\n\nExcellent communication skills\nThe best developers are great communicators and teammates, not just great programmers. In this position, you’ll eventually take on the role of project lead. This means you’ll communicate directly with the client to help them make product decisions and manage the project.\n\nAbility to balance trade-offs\nAt Krit, you’ll solve challenging technical problems, but you’ll also help clients to build entirely new businesses. We look for people who can balance trade offs and are excited by the impact on the business as much as the technology. \n\nYou care about testing and documentation\nWe want our clients to be successful long term, so we build everything to be able to hand it off at any point. This means good test coverage, continuous integration, clean documentation and lots of comments. It has the added bonus of making it easier for new team members to get up to speed quickly on projects!\n \n\n#Salary\n$80,000 — $92,000\n\n\n#Location\nUSA

UBIO has built the Automation Cloud, a platform which can robotically perform any online task such as reserving a hotel for your trip to New York, booking a flight to get there and applying for a credit card to pay for it all. We are working towards a SaaS based solution for engineers to automate website actions and we need your help!\n\nWe are looking for an optimistic and resilient engineer who has developed markedly complex services in Javascript or Typescript. You would have been involved with platforms and services that perform and scale well on the cloud and you also enjoy discussing complex engineering topics. We are a small Engineering team, relying on tools like GitHub and Slack to keep us communicating efficiently. We also rely on architectural principles and guidelines to ensure our colleagues can pick up our work in the future, if necessary. \n\n# Requirements\n## You have considerable technical experience in:\n\n- One or more programming languages (5 years is about right)\n- Server side JavaScript/TypeScript with Node.js\n- Developing applications for the cloud (Google Cloud in our case)\n- Storage: Redis, SQL, MongoDB\n\n## And it would be great if you also have:\n\n- Experience with Prometheus and Grafana or other monitoring systems\n- Interest in Serverless functions (Google Cloud Functions) and containers (Google Cloud Run)\n- Exposure to Dependency Injection\n- Experience with micro-services and Message Bus architectures\n- Appetite for Golang\n- Exposure to PCI-DSS compliance\n\n## This is what you'll be doing:\n\n### Drafting and developing prototypes\n- If significant unknowns exist or risks need to be reduced, you’ll frame your thoughts into a prototype doc and develop a prototype in code or research to resolve those. You may need to develop a few prototypes before we can move on to implementation.\n\n### Getting features production ready\n- Once prototypes are out of the way, you’ll write tests, refactor and expand on your initial prototypes to get your code ready for deployment.\n\n### Rub virtual shoulders with Product\n- Engineering works very close to our Product function. You will frequently liaise with a product manager to ensure business requirements are current and to realign on delivery expectations.\n\n### Leveraging and evolving our standards\n- We have defined a handful of standards, including a framework for developing micro-services. - We have also defined architecture guidelines to more clearly inform our future. We will count on you to advance those by adhering to them and providing feedback for improvements.\n\n### Avoiding pitfalls and learning from failures\n- You will bring experience to the team and will help us avoid difficult paths, but you understand that experiencing failures is a building block for success. Your resilience will be key to navigate these situations.\n\n#### Communicating your needs clearly and responsibly\n- With the support of your Lead Engineer, you will be able to state clearly what is needed to deliver features in a timely fashion. You will do that with a good level of written and spoken English.\n\n### Owning Service Lifecycle\n\n- Be able to debug and provide support for services you ship in all environments.\n- Be able to communicate effective metrics for the code you write, be aware of its performance and how we can observe them inline with SLOs.\n\n### Positively adding to our culture\n\n- You have a positive outlook in life and you can also have fun away from technology.\n- You are able to focus on how to overcome obstacles, rather than being overly impeded by limitations and dependencies.\n\n#Location\nUk/eu

**We're a startup turned app development shop. Our small, growing team partners with non-technical founders to design and build innovative new products.**\n\nWe're not out to build the next Snapchat. Instead, we create beautiful, niche software tools for B2B startup founders that can grow into profitable companies.\n\nWe work on a handful of new projects every year across industries like legal tech, higher education, cyber security and logistics. Our clients’ products have been used by brands like Dropbox, Lyft, Microsoft, Nike, Yale University and more.\n\nLast year, we made $700,000 in revenue as a company and are on track to cross $1 million this year. We’re a profitable, bootstrapped company and share our profits with our team. But we try not to take ourselves too seriously. 🙃\n\n**Talented back-end developer**\nWe're looking for a talented back-end developer based in the US or Canada to help take the lead on new projects. We use Django, Postgres and Heroku on most projects but we care more about your talent and willingness to learn than experience with a particular framework.\n\n**Willingness to help out with the front-end**\nBecause we're a small team working on a wide variety of projects, you’ll have to be comfortable jumping around and learning new skills. You don't have to be a unicorn, but you do need to be willing to step in and help out on the front-end. We typically work with Vue, React and React Native on the front-end.\n\n**Excellent communication skills**\nThe best developers are great communicators and teammates, not just great programmers. In this position, you’ll eventually take on the role of project lead. This means you’ll communicate directly with the client to help them make product decisions and manage the project.\n\n**Ability to balance trade-offs**\nAt Krit, you’ll solve challenging technical problems, but you’ll also help clients to build entirely new businesses. We look for people who can balance trade offs and are excited by the impact on the business as much as the technology.\n\n**You care about testing and documentation**\nWe want our clients to be successful long term, so we build everything to be able to hand it off at any point. This means good test coverage, continuous integration, clean documentation and lots of comments. It has the added bonus of making it easier for new team members to get up to speed quickly on projects! \n\n#Salary\n$80,000\n\n\n#Location\n🇺🇸 US-only

\nWhat you will be working on\n\nAs a Backend Developer, you will work on our Node-based GraphQL API as well as related services (e.g. database/search) and infrastructure based on AWS. Together with the Full Stack Developers in our team, you will work on our core SaaS product, but your focus will not be the implementation of new features, but rather the improvement of our backend services. Example tasks could include refactoring the code structure, switching to a more modern ORM, splitting the backend into multiple services, providing new external-facing APIs, improving our logging infrastructure, and so on.\n\nAbout our tech stack: We have a frontend based on React and a backend written in Node.js. They interface with each other using GraphQL and Apollo. We utilize TypeScript for the entire codebase to improve code quality and reliability. We use relational databases as well as Elasticsearch. We write comprehensive end-to-end tests using Cypress in addition to unit tests. Our infrastructure is based on AWS and Kubernetes. We have a well-functioning CI/CD pipeline and deploy to production multiple times a day.\n\n\nQualities we look for\n\n\n* \n\nAt least 3 years of hands-on software engineering experience\n\n\n* \n\nSubstantial experience working with Node.js\n\n\n* \n\nProfound experience with JavaScript and TypeScript\n\n\n* \n\nGeneralist mindset; eagerness to learn about new technologies and tackle unfamiliar\n\nproblems\n\n\n* \n\nExperience in agile product teams as a contributor\n\n\n* \n\nStartup mindset and pragmatic, hands-on attitude\n\n\n* \n\nFluency in English and good communication skills\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat we offer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n* \n\nOpportunity to shape a valuable, impactful product in a meaningful way\n\n\n* \n\nFull ownership over your responsibilities and tasks\n\n\n* \n\nOffice centrally located in Berlin Mitte, near Rosenthaler Platz (but currently most of\n\nus work remotely)\n\n\n* \n\nCasual startup environment with no bureaucracy and no complex processes\n\n\n* \n\nCompetitive compensation\n\n\n* \n\nFlexible working hours and working from home policy\n\n\n* \n\nHardware of your choice (e.g. Macbook Pro)\n\n\n\n

This job post is closed and the position is probably filled. Please do not apply.
\nRaycast makes it simple, fast and delightful to control your tools. We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our small team to build, own and scale the distribution of Raycast extensions via a store that developers around the world can contribute to.\n\nRaycast is a native Mac application with a significant focus on top-notch UI and interactions. We genuinely care about user experience, performance, privacy and ease of use. We had enough of dealing with slow and clunky tools. Raycast is our attempt to let you enjoy your daily workflows without all the distractions.\n\nWhen Apple announced the App Store in 2008, the distribution of software changed over night. Suddenly, developers could reach millions of customers. We believe it's about time to change how developers discover and consume productivity tools. At the center of this, is a store full of Raycast extensions that people can share and manage or discover new ones from others. We need hungry engineers that architect and build this store to revolutionise how developers experience productivity tools with us.\n\nWe're a fully remote company and looking for candidates in the UTC timezone (London, Lisbon, Dakar, ...) ± 3 hours. This position is for a full-time employment.\n\nIn this role you will...\n\n\n* Build the infrastructure of our store. You design a stable cloud infrastructure and backend architecture that is open for extension, and an API that other developers love to use. You're implementing the distribution of our extensions and work closely with macOS engineering where needed.\n\n* Co-own the product and work self-directed. We're a small team of individual contributors. Everybody has autonomy and responsibility. You work on features from ideation over release to maintenance and shape the roadmap of the product.\n\n* Shape the experience for contributors. The store is one piece of the puzzle. You generate ideas about how developers should add and maintain extensions. You optimise for ease-of-use for producers and consumers.\n\n* Improve performance and care about quality. You dogfood your own features with our nightly builds, respond to user feedback in our community and jump into performance profiling to make API calls fast. You automate tedious tasks. At best, directly in Raycast.\n\n* Wear many hats. In a small startup, we're all generalists. You might add a new page to our Vue.js website, set up infrastructure components, or write a blog post about a new feature.\n\n\n\n\nYou will be a great fit if...\n\n\n* You know how to build great APIs. Ideally, you've built and scaled APIs before and have a playbook to kickstart development with modern backend languages. You've worked with different types of data stores, and you know best practices around data modeling and access. Moreover, you can reason well about the tradeoffs of different programming languages and tech stacks without being dogmatic, f.e. decide if we should adopt GraphQL or REST.\n\n* You're highly productive while writing quality code. We release updates every 1-2 weeks. You can break down big projects in small deliverables. You care about the outcome and take a pragmatic approach to deliver it. You keep things simple and rather write more code than adopting a third-party dependency. You know when you want a code review or need to write tests.\n\n* You're product-minded. You have a sense for great user experience and feel when something is off. You work with continuous deployment and preview environments to get constant feedback and you have monitoring and analytics in place to quickly act when something unexpected happens. You're eager to optimize API responsiveness and dig deep when there is a need to resolve a tricky issue. You treat APIs as products and proactively iterate on them.\n\n* You put our users first. Throughout Raycast you find many little details. You pay attention to detail and provide our users a delightful experience. You can't stand bugs and don't shy away from user feedback.\n\n* You're an empathetic communicator. You treat technology as tradeoffs. You may be opinionated but you're not ideological. When disagreeing, you communicate thoughtfully your perspective and compromise when needed. You're thriving in a team environment and hold your colleagues accountable.\n\n\n\n\nApplication process\n\nDuring our interview process, we want to make sure that both sides get a good understanding of what it feels to work together day-to-day. Our process contains a few steps:\n\n* Send us an engaging email. Tell us why you want to join Raycast and why you generally care about the problem we're solving. Make your first impression count. Share with us what excites you and how you envision your role at Raycast.\n\n* An intro call with the founders. Both parties get to know each other. You learn more about Raycast and can ask us any question. From our side, we want to understand what motivated you to apply.\n\n* Work on a real task. We want to demonstrate how it is to collaborate with the team. For this, we give you an assignment that we would actually build and create a shared Slack channel to communicate. We'll compensate you for the task.\n\n* Another video call to present your task. Time to show your work in a short video call with some of us. Expect some role-specific questions to better understand how you tick.\n\n\n\nAfter the last step, we get back to you with a decision. In rare cases, we might ask you for another call.

\nReceeve is seeking a Backend Developer (f/m/d) to join our Core Engineering team, building out the core product. You are an all-rounder and feel comfortable moving up, down, left or right across the entire stack.\n\nWe help resolve serious problems in credit, where there are impacts on all kinds of businesses and consumers. It’s serious business and European banks alone generate over 150 billion Euros per year in new problem cases.\n\nBut it’s not just the business opportunity that is large. It’s a tech challenge. Everything we deal with is asynchronous. There can be milliseconds or weeks in between reactions or events. This comes with a set of technical challenges that go above and beyond the run of the mill app. There are multiple stakeholders, inputs, and third parties. As a team, we built a fully enterprise-ready solution in the course of a few months, one capable of scaling almost infinitely. Our architecture is unique and provides real flexibility for implementing new features.\n\nOur people want to win and push themselves to become the best in their field. They combine a never-ending curiosity, a desire to make things happen, work openly and closely with colleagues across the business, and evolve to become comfortable with making their own decisions and taking responsibility for services that make up the entire system.\n\nThey put in the thought on complex issues, talk within the team about the tradeoffs of various solutions, welcome feedback, and implement quality directly into the code. This includes comfort with various abstractions and patterns, as well as creating the tests necessary to ensure that the code works properly. When there is technical debt created, they document it for later, or while building something new, refactor the services to make them better as they go.\n\nIf you think a great day starts with a challenge to solve, want to have a real impact in one of Europe’s Fintech companies, and be part of a diverse team, then send us a CV and do include some information that’s helpful to round out the bullet points in a CV. This could be a short blurb why you’re interested, a link to code or projects you’ve done in the past. Anything that helps us understand you.\n\n\nWhat we’re looking for:\n\nYou’ll be working in the backend of our event-driven platform to solve complex problems. You’ll have an opportunity to work in an highly flexible and adaptable architecture, work closely with experts to both share and expand your knowledge and skills, and develop yourself into a true craftsman.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\n\n* Design and develop backend services, applying craftsmanship such as good Design Patterns, Testing, and considering robustness at scale\n\n* Solve complex problems with solutions that are clear and concise\n\n* Maintain the backend services\n\n* Provide feedback to Product regarding new features\n\n* Report on status of development work\n\n* Mentor and assist others in the team\n\n\n\n\nTo be successful:\n\n\n* You must understand and use common Design Patterns\n\n* You must believe in quality, and implementing testing\n\n* You must be able to quickly grasp complex details\n\n* You must be a good communicator\n\n* You must be open to feedback and growing\n\n\n\n\nMust-Haves / Requirements:\n\n\n* Minimum 3 years of experience\n\n* Typescript (or comparable OOP-style language)\n\n* Strong Object Oriented Programming knowledge\n\n* Uses common Design Patterns\n\n\n\n\nYou will have stronger chances if you:\n\n\n* Understand Domain Driven Design\n\n* Event Driven Architecture\n\n* Have handled Big Data\n\n* Worked with streams\n\n* Built in AWS infrastructure\n\n* Worked with the Serverless paradigm\n\n* Built in microservices\n\n\n\n\nWhy us?\n\n\n* Join one of Europe’s top startups\n\n* Work in the architecture everyone talks about, but doesn’t implement\n\n* Work in the heart of Hamburg in a very international team\n\n* A flat hierarchy, where you will have direct access to the founders\n\n* A high degree of learning and ownership in a dynamic environment\n\n\n\n\nWe live diversity. In our teams we bring together people with different backgrounds, perspectives and skills. We welcome all applications – regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion/belief, disability, age, sexual orientation and identity.

\nWe’re looking for a  full time creative engineer with product minded focus and scalability to join our rapidly growing tech team in Malmö. This is a fully hands-on position and will cover all aspects of back-end related development and bring value on the technical product roadmap level. We are looking for a candidate that must have at least 5-7 years of experience and understands the dynamics of a start-up in a fast growth trajectory.\n\n\n Our tech + how we work \n\n\n* Our core backend is built with Python, but is being quickly adapted as requirements dictate. Critical components of our architecture are split into dedicated microservices, where we'll be looking at higher performance languages for mission-critical functionality.\n\n* Extensive back-end development experience in writing Python together with database management, configuration and AWS services & workflows\n\n* API-building and configuration alongside integration of third party API’s for data distribution systems are of essence in our operations\n\n* ML is becoming part of our decision making process so you need to be able to plan and architect that together with the rest of the engineering team\n\n* We believe in using the best tools for the job, and value engineering expertise over language prowess\n\n* We value: documentation, test coverage, code review, CI/CD and great team spirit.\n\n* We predominantly communicate over Slack, making little use of email internally. We do daily standups each morning via Google Hangouts. BitBucket is our repo of choice and we track progress via sprints in Jira project boards\n\n* We encourage discussion and debate, but place tremendous value on pragmatism and optimising for output. We're solving new categories of problems, and understanding our very best functionality will come about as a result of deep technical insights driven by engineering\n\n\n\n\n You should apply if…\n\n\n* You're passionate about building beautifully crafted APIs and creating awesome secure scalable experiences. Handiscover’s services are geared towards users, communities and partners creating values in their everyday life. Build a product you would use yourself, and bring your unique insight and perspective to the table as an engineer in shaping our overarching product offering.\n\n* You like solving big problems. Our greatest challenges are yet to come, and we'll need super hard working and creative minds to solve foundational infrastructure challenges for the world's largest online travel communities facilitators.\n\n* You value autonomy, moving fast and getting lots done. We have no time or interest for bureaucracy and micromanagement - we're moving super fast and you'll be required to take responsibility for delivering products end-to-end.\n\n* You want to make a huge impact, and share in the success of a company you've helped build. Our tech team is 5 strong today, but we are just getting started.\n\n\n\n\n\nNO THIRD PARTY RECRUITMENT AGENCIES PLEASE
