This will be a remote position, expected to work east coast hours. Overall success in this position means you have helped the children using our products find the lessons, stories, and other content that best fit their age and interests.\n\nHOMER is a venture-backed, high-growth business that offers competitive compensation including equity and full benefits in a creative, flexible environment that invests in professional development.\n\nAs Fullstack Game Engineer in our growing Content Engineering team, you will be responsible for supporting the content team by maintaining the content management system, improving our core interactive/animation framework as well as developing games, lessons, and other interactive educational content consumed by a growing number of cross platform web and mobile apps. If you are a maker at heart with experience in and temperament for mentoring others on your team and across engineering, this is the role for you. You will focus on elegant and effective technical solutions that enable HOMER’s vision described above. As you grow, you will participate in growing our technology platform to support the needs of rapidly growing user-base. Above all, we care about delivering quality software in a sustainable and timely manner. \n\nYou will:\n\n\n* Make direct technical contributions (writing, debugging, reviewing, and deploying code) using Javascript and other languages as necessary.\n\n* Provide technical guidance and feedback to your team members on a team distributed in several time-zones using agile project management methodologies.\n\n* Collaborate effectively with your stakeholders (product managers, animators, illustrators, UX designers, engineers, data scientists and others) to define and refine requirements.\n\n* Technical design and development of content management, animation, and interactive systems.\n\n\n\n\nYou must have:\n\n\n* Demonstrable expertise of CMS architecture, design, implementation and maintenance or similar game development support tools.\n\n* Sound Computer Science fundamentals (Bachelor’s degree in CS or related fields preferred).\n\n* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.\n\n* At least 5 years of relevant work experience (or undergraduate degree in Computer Science and 3 years of relevant work experience).\n\n\n\n\nWe are also looking for:\n\n\n* Experience developing web or mobile 2D games, interactive apps, or animation systems, using one or more of the following: Javascript, C/C++/C#, or Swift.\n\n* Knowledge and experience with GraphQL.\n\n* Knowledge and experience with Node.js.\n\n* Ability and openness to switch programming languages as necessary.\n\n\n\n\nWe like people who:\n\n\n* Are open to suggestions, collaborative, and thrive in team environments\n\n* Love and are willing to learn new technologies and styles\n\n* Are scrappy, entrepreneurial with the ability to turnaround high-quality projects quickly without depending on a large team\n\n\n\n\nWhat you’ll get:\n\n\n* HOMER offers competitive compensation including equity and full benefits\n\n* Smart, passionate, and engaged co-workers\n\n* Excellent top-tier Medical/Dental/Vision benefits\n\n* The chance to have a big impact, quickly\n\n* The rare opportunity to make a dent in the universe.
