Stream is looking for a Lead Android Developer to head up our Jetpack Compose efforts. Youโll build up a team, figure out best practices for building reusable components in Jetpack Compose and make it a breeze for other developers to build chat & messaging apps. The source code for SDKs is public on Github, giving you the opportunity to showcase the quality of your work.\n\nStreamโs APIs for activity feeds and chat are used by over a billion end users. The backend technology is based on Go, RocksDB & Raft. Weโre currently one of the fastest growing startups in Colorado and Amsterdam. For this role weโre hiring in Amsterdam or remotely.\n\n## What you will be doing\n\nAs a lead developer you spend most of your time on engineering and programming. You also mentor your team and support them in their growth, set the technical vision for the SDK, work closely with the product team, and collaborate with other engineering teams. Introducing Jetpack Compose UI components to our SDK is a new project, so youโll begin as a team of one and build your own team.. \n\n## The Challenges\n\n* You are building SDKs that other developers use. This sets a very high bar in terms of code quality\n* Our SDKs are used by some of the worldโs largest apps. Stability, performance, and world class documentation are essential\n* Since we provide APIs & SDKs that are used by thousands of companies we can and should optimize to a very high quality level\n## You have\n\n* 5+ years of experience as an Android developer\n* 2+ years writing Kotlin\n* Experience with reactive systems like React, React Native, SwiftUI, Flutter or Jetpack Compose\n* A passion for ensuring quality by writing pragmatic automated tests\n* 2+ years of experience in formal and informal engineering leadership role\n* Attention to user experience details - visual look and feel\n\n### Bonus points\n\n* Experience with developing SDK libraries or maintaining open-source projects\n* Experience with Kotlin Coroutines\n* Published libraries to Maven Central\n\n## Values\n\nThere are a few things we look for across all hires we make at Stream.
