SAIT is hiring a Remote Adjunct Instructor Carpentry
\nSAITโs Continuing Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) focuses on non-credit programs supporting corporate training, the individual learner and international projects. We create courses and programs for life-long learning with careers at our core. Our courses range from exploring general interests to up-skilling for career advancement and reskilling for career changes. We complete all background activities required to set up our products for students to purchase and experience several delivery options.\n\n\nSAIT has partnered with the Solicitor General and Alberta Advanced Education to deliver Carpentry programing at Calgary Correction Centre (CCC). This instructional opportunity to scheduled to deliver in-person training on site at CCC.\n\n\nMonday to Friday\n6 hours per day (7:30am to 2:30pm)\nRemote delivery at Calgary Correction Centre\nStart: ASAP\nEnd: June 30, 2024 with high likelihood of renewal for another 1 year term\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Role\n* Prepare and present lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, lab activities and lab demonstrations for learners if applicable given the course outline\n* Maintain records for the purposes of grading, assessing professionalism and tracking attendance in both theory and lab classes if given the course outline\n* Manage the classroom or lab to ensure a positive learning environment\n* Show personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning\n* Provide on-going support, guidance and advice to students\n* Attend all SAIT training as required\n* Achievement of School initiatives and Objectives\n* Be an active and engaged member of the School\n* Adhere to all safety legislation, guidelines and safety standards as required\n* Maintain contact with relevant industry sectors\n* All other duties as required for the position\n\n\n\n\nQualifications \n* Minimum Alberta Red Seal Journeyperson Certificate in Carpentry\n* 2+ years of industry experience is an asset\n* Experience and fluency with Office 365 (MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)\n* Experience with videoconferencing technology (MS Teams, WebX, Skype or Zoom)\n* Fluent in English reading and vocabulary\n* Comfortable speaking to the public\n* Positive & respectful attitude\n* Ability to read, interpret and deliver specific curriculum\n* Excellent communication skills\n* Ability to organize and present written information\n\nDesired:\n* Previous teaching experience\n* Experience with a Learning Management System (Brightspace or Moodle is an asset)\n* Training and knowledge of adult learning fundamentals\n* Formal training or education in facilitation or teaching\n* Formal training in online technologies\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJob location: Calgary Correction Centre\nJob classification: Adjunct Instructor\n# of positions: 1\nCloses March 1, 2024\n\n\nAbout SAIT\n \nSAIT is a global leader in applied education.
